• xenforo has sucessfully updated our forum software last night. Howevr, that has returned many templates to stock formats which MAY be missing some previous functionality. It has also fixed some boroken templates Ive taken offline. Reat assured, we are working on getting our templates back to normal, but will take a few days. Im working top down, so best bet is to stick with the default templates as I work thru them.

Why is it?

When gas prices were high meat prices and all goods and services went up? Fuel costs have dropped over 60% but grocery prices have not dropped here at least. Gas is $1.58 a gallon.

Mods please move if desired but it seens wrong that groceries always go up but rarely go down.

I'm with you. When you think about all the fuel used to get the product from the ground to the shelf, it makes you wonder who's pocketing all those fuel savings.

Heck, I don't know- maybe they figured you liked to eat- and tying the cost to something like the price of oil was "just goofy". After all ,you gonna eat whether you are driving or not.

God, I hope there's a better answer than that -or greed.

government knows people can not stop eating so you will pay for it but gas prices are high people will not travel or you will make your trips count going to the store .

Damn Toast, How much did that bass in your avatar weigh? That is a trophy for sure.

Well, I do not want to offend anyone but consumer pricing is a lot like foreplay. Some times it's a light kiss on the neck, some times it's a painful pull of the hair (and some times it's both). They have to mix it up or just go with what's working at the time. But in the end it is leading to the same conclusion.

$1.55 Sunday fill up here (Costco). Last week was $1.59.
There's a local BBQ place we eat at regularly, I don't eat their BBQ but I like the fried chicken. When meat prices were rising, they held their brisket prices steady. I was thinking that they had to be breaking even or possibly losing. They finally did raise the prices but haven't lowered them since meat prices have dropped. Maybe they're trying to re-coup, or maybe, if they see that demand isn't falling, they will keep selling at the new level? We will see.

$1.58 a gallon?? We can't even dream about a price like that. :becky: Easily double that here but we're celebrating the $3/gal here.:whoo:

Sorry no input on meat prices since we're so psyched over the gas prices.:clap2:

Gas and meat is still high here. Close to $3/gal and $2.99# for pork butt is a sale price.

Because the law of supply and demand no longer exists...

Oil is cheap because Saudi is flooding the market to destroy Russia without firing a shot. in the mean time they are bringing us down with them. This won't work out well in the end. So for now use the extra gas budget to buy more meat

Fuel taxes per gallon vary widely. California 64c. Texas 38c. Sounds great right?? Wrong then delve into the delivery fees, environmental restoration taxes fees. Governments make billions/trillion? Annually from taxes and fees on petroleum from before the surface is scratched for a well until it's pumped in your vehicle. Then- it's taxed more on trucking companies thru IFTA and various states usage fees.

If a cow sheep or pig was taxed from point of production to your plate that rib eye would be 550 dollars per pound. Most consumer commodities are supply and demand. You have to be careful with your commodity, because when you price it out of the market- some folks leave find other interests and don't come back. Or return slowly.

I paid 1.68 regular UL at Sam's and picked up a National Beef choice packer 1.97#. To me brisket tasted awful at 4$#. 2$ higher at their peak in some regular grocery stores.

On a similar topic. Griswold cast iron skillets have done a double or triple in the last year on EBay.

And the whole time, said government is screaming about how much oil companies are making!

in before the move.

There's no need to be "in before the move" if the thread stays somewhat close to the topic of meat prices. If you'd like to start a political discussion please start a thread in the News & Politics section.
