• xenforo has sucessfully updated our forum software last night. Howevr, that has returned many templates to stock formats which MAY be missing some previous functionality. It has also fixed some boroken templates Ive taken offline. Reat assured, we are working on getting our templates back to normal, but will take a few days. Im working top down, so best bet is to stick with the default templates as I work thru them.

I am tired of buying the 40 lb bags from HD or Academy.

I have often envied the wood stacks outside of many BBQ houses and thought that it would be great to partner with some brethren who smoke with hickory and would like to go in on a half cord 4' x 8' x 16" (+/-).

I already have one local interested, so I am looking for 2 more local brethren and split the order 4 ways so everyone would get approximately 1/8 of a cord.

I would receive the wood delivery in Richardson and you could come by my house and pick up your stack.

I am not sure about prices, but I know that it would be less expensive by purchasing in volume. If this initial order works out well for everyone, then we could bump up the volume, and share the savings with more brethren.

Let me know.

How soon are you doing this and who have you contacted for the wood? I'm in Frisco and would be interested, but I might want half a cord myself. Maybe we could set this up for delivery in two places?

I've already got a cord of a mixture of oak & hickory, but if I could get 100% hickory I'd be interested.

I sometime soon, maybe next week or so. I will find out prices for the wood and delivery and post.

I am just need for a couple of people to confirm interest and promise not to back out once the costs have been approved and the order is placed.

I don't want to have a bunch of excess wood at my place, getting eaten up by worms and termites.

Two delivery drops would probably be slightlly more costly.

I guess it depends on the supplier.

You can go by that place in irving on beltline and rock island road and buy whatever amount of wood you want. It is right down the road from the knights of columbus where they do the cookoffs. Just a thought. Try to make it easier on yourself. They also have all kinds of wood, cherry, pecan, apple, oak etc.... You can also look on craigslist. There are always folks offering up free wood just pick it up. I have seen a bunch of Pecan free.

That's not a half a cord. That is a face which is 1/3 of a cord.

I'm out of hickory, but live just a little to far away to split it with you.

...go in on a half cord 4' x 8' x 16" (+/-)...

...split the order 4 ways so everyone would get approximately 1/8 of a cord...

4'h x 8'l x 16"d is actually a face cord, and it is 1/3 of a cord (a full cord is 4'h x 8'l x 4'd. Splitting it 4 ways you would each get 1/12 of a cord.

Sorry to nit pick.

I wish there was an easy shipping solution for long distances, i've got quite a bit o hickory that i would love to trade for some mesquite, anybody coming north anytime soon??

The place in Irving in Arnold Brothers on Beltline. They have a website with prices. That's were I get mine. They'll stack the long cut logs across the bed of a truck up to the bed rails for about $60. I don't plan on buying anymore wood until I decide if I'm going to keep the Klose or sell it to get something else.

All,

No offense, my nits have been picked before, I knew I should have specified "nominal" measurement of a half cord.

Bbq Bubba, that would be cool, I could get a uhaul trailer of mesquite, you could get a uhaul trailer of hickory and meet half-way.

I will check Craig's list, but I am only looking for hickory. Anyone have any other wood connections out of NE Texas or OK for hickory?

Thillin, Thanks for the info on Arnold Brothers, I will check with them and I was already checking with Big John's Firewood south of Fort Worth on Highway 377.

Interest has been good, we may have to buy a cord "nominal" if we get a couple more.

Thanks,
