• xenforo has sucessfully updated our forum software last night. Howevr, that has returned many templates to stock formats which MAY be missing some previous functionality. It has also fixed some boroken templates Ive taken offline. Reat assured, we are working on getting our templates back to normal, but will take a few days. Im working top down, so best bet is to stick with the default templates as I work thru them.

Who has taught you the most on what?

Cowgirl has taught me the most overall. She shows versatility in her cooks that makes everyday ingredients (and some not so everyday) look amazing. Stuff like the fatty piston, her UDS thread and all the tractor rim cooks keep me inspired to keep cooking and try new things.

I also really enjoy watching Buttburner's big charity cooks. I don't know if I've learned a lot from him or just been inspired. But it's because of him I bought my Shirley and decided to dive all in to charity cooks.

Smokin Okie... Don't think he's posted on here for a while though. I got most of my info on the Cookshack forum though. I stumbled across the Brethren site a couple years ago.

The toothpick test is the biggest thing I learned. Once I figured that out, my ribs have been spot on every single time. And I've been smoking for years before I even heard of that.

Check the Jokes forum. You'll see him there daily.

My cattle call introduction post referenced pitmaster T and bigabyte.

I always like charred approns cooks and miss them.

Landarc is a bank of information

The person that has taught most was Bigabyte. made my First American style Brisket wow my friends.:becky:
The Brethren have inspired me, just about every cook on this site that has technique and a recipe attached has little bits of inspiration.
So you all should pat yourselves on the Back

Learned so much from many. For example:

Cowgirl and ssv3: You can be a great cook and still be humble
16Adams: Golf is a year-round sport
AClarke44: How to give great advice and mentor newer cooks
Bludawg: Don't be afraid of the brisket (but I am still confused, are we suppose to use a thermometer when checking for doneness?)
You (Keith): The Pit Barrel Cooker is underrated

Fwismoker-chicken
Bludawg-ribs and when I find one, brisket
Thirdeye-chuckies
RonL-naked fatties
Wolfepit-wings
TuscaloosaQ-mac & cheese
Derhusker-molasses slathered pork butt
Cowgirl-bacon weave and more than I can count of other things

Lots of other folks have shown me a lot of good things. Most I can't remember the names.

Pretty new to this site, but everyone has helped in there own ways. My favorite thing though i picked up on here was from Shagdog the Dakkochi. Killer chicken.

I see the toothpick test mentioned all the time...Someone care to explain?

Bludawg is my choice and not just because he is the brisket master. His tips on mayo for crispy chicken skin and hot sauce for slather on ribs have helped me improve my bbq. Thanks Blu!

My cooking skills are like my golfing skills. Not much better st 57 than they were at 37. Although this site assures me that's my fault:-))
Butt and I mean a big Ol Boston Butt, my photography skills have quadrupled, my ability to make an anonymous post in a public forum without offending anyone (unless I want to) has improved. Every picture posted, I look. Love that paper clip;-))

My friends know I love to cook and have several cookers. The last 5-6 family and friends have asked for cooker recommendations. What do they want?? Pellet Cookers and Gassers. Two cookers I do not have.

It's just fire and meat- its OK to be different.
Consistently trash talking about a cooker you've never owned will get you on an ignore list.
Any statement you make- may get a response you didn't expect "Mod Plagiarised" words

There are great Bretheren here who are fantastic cooks, and intelligent in the choosing of their words 100%- I like that.

I miss peeps.

i hate to name names because I'm afraid of all the great cooks I'm leaving out. cowgirl can cook anything and make it look like a million bucks. bludawgs no nonsense answers i agree it's not the brisket thing it's everything else, iammadman is the king of cured meat and the guys who comes out of nowhere with a great cook or recipe who does something in away i never seen before I've learned a lot from them. thanks to all!!

Off the top of my head

Bludawg = Brisket KISS I'm 5-0 sense I've been doing it this way, before I was 1-6

RonL = naked fatty is the only way to make a sausage and egg Mc muffin

Wolfpit = chicken wings using a vortex are best wings to come off my kettle

Wampus = turkey the talk of the table at thanksgiving dinner

Immadman /Neil = double smoked ham turns a nine dollar ham into seventy dollar ham

Cowgirl = hatched chilies smoked and batter fried are off the hook

Shadow diver = collard greens are just flat out good with ribs and cornbread I like more than beans and potato salad

Derrhusker = pork shoulder it's a new day

I know I missed a lot , And a host of others on this site

Too many to mention them all, but Blu for the brisket, Neil for his nuts, you, Keith for fire cooking. Amazing the knowledge that everyone possesses not only for BBQ but knives, manufacturing (builds) etc.

I think everyone has contributed in their own way to help me not only with BBQ but with other types of cooking as well.

And for that, thank you.

For me following Bludawgs Brisket method was a home run and Cowgirls can do everything with anything and SO many others but those are the highlights:clap:
