• xenforo has sucessfully updated our forum software last night. Howevr, that has returned many templates to stock formats which MAY be missing some previous functionality. It has also fixed some boroken templates Ive taken offline. Reat assured, we are working on getting our templates back to normal, but will take a few days. Im working top down, so best bet is to stick with the default templates as I work thru them.

We missed the Colorado blizzard and snow was not in our forecast for Christmas. That all changed at 5:00 this morning. The first picture was taken when I was getting the Egg ready for some Christmas salmon, another 3" has fallen since. Below is the salmon before going into the smoke. It was cured yesterday and rested overnight. Red and green peppercorns were added for that "Christmas" look.

I've got to get this done by 2:30 so I can reload the Egg for a NY roast for the big meal later today.

Happy Holidays to Everyone!!!!!

Lucky you, the wife just walked by and was P&M about it not feeling like Christmas this year with no snow. An oddity here in Iowa this time of year.
My oldest grandson said"don't worry granpa it will snow, it's Christmas"
Just the first of many life lessons I guess!

I've got to get a better camera......you take the best pics!!!

Christmas irony at it's best...the relatives from NC are here getting lessons on how to Q from NYer wearing shorts watching the Giants play on Christmas Eve

The salmon looks great, but i love the picture of the Egg in the snow. It looks so peaceful!

We're having a brown and gray Christmas in the Chicago area.

39* and I'm fixin to go fire up the queer here in Minnesoda. And no snow. Anywhere. This has only happened a few times in my life.

Isn't Christmas tomorrow? If not, I am screwed! :0

I think it will last, there is about 12" out there right now.

Here is the salmon about 3-1/2 hours into the cook. Maybe another 90 minutes to go....

Ha! Tell you wife to come to Texas during Christmas. In over 40 years, I have never seen a white Christmas. I wouldn't know what that is like. In fact, the most snow that I have ever seen is maybe 1" at one time. Funny thing is, the whole DFW area shuts down if they even forcast a little snow or ice.

Actually, as of last night, they are predicting snow flurries tomorrow.

Uhm Yeah, when I mention the "queer" I'm referring to my Brinkmann Smoke King Deluxe cooker. I refer to it as the queer because it is a mirror image of the Bandera, left handed or backwards so to speak. Not that there's anything wrong with that.

Great looking pics, can't wait to see one of the roast. I have two bone in turkey breasts and a ham on the FE now with the prime rib going on in the morning. Does the snow/moisture mess with the guru? Merry Christmas all.

It's kind of hard to see, but I have a zipper bag over the guru and try to seal it as best as I can on the end with the wires. I also bag up the plug-in connection.

Nice Egg third eye! How do you like it?

I really like it, I have a small one too. I needed a cooker that could tackle the Wyoming winters, not just the cold temps but that damn wind. The insulation, thermal properties and long unattended burn times make up for the small square inches of grate space.

The Primo Oval was my second choice because of it's larger grate.

... lookin' good !! Have you hudged about how much longer it takes the BGE to come to temp versus Summer ambient temps? We have had lows in low 20's recently and I was surprised how quickly temps came up for the dbl-smk'd ham.
Happy holidays!

I know they say it is not necessary but I generally start smaller fires when it is cold out, especially single digits and lower. I'm still ready to cook in about an hour.
