• xenforo has sucessfully updated our forum software last night. Howevr, that has returned many templates to stock formats which MAY be missing some previous functionality. It has also fixed some boroken templates Ive taken offline. Reat assured, we are working on getting our templates back to normal, but will take a few days. Im working top down, so best bet is to stick with the default templates as I work thru them.

Looking for a good source to buy different logs or chunks in Rockford Illinois or Chicago area. Something like the bags of smoke me wood. Any help would be great.
 
If you're just buying bags of chunks, then I find Menards and Mejier are best. Home Depot and Lowes seem to only have hickory chunks. Menards will have Apple and Cherry chunks also. Mejier is the only place I've seen Oak in addition to the others. I like oak for my beef.

If you're looking for more wood than a bag, then google firewood dealers. The one by me offers hickory, oak, cherry, and apple. Ace by me will also sell you a half cord of hickory, cherry, oak, or maple. I've been meaning to go buy a trashcan size and cut them down with a chop saw, but haven't gotten around to it.
 
Academy Sports if you have one in the area. They usually have oak, mesquite, hickory, apple and pecan chips, chunks and sometimes bags of small splits.

NVM. I now see that they are a southern company. Sorry
 
home depot in rockford carries apple, cherry, hickory, and mesquite

menards sometimes has chunks of apple and cherry as well (always carries mesquite)

there's a guy on craigslist who has apple and will deliver a face cord for like 100 bucks.

i end up buying peach, pecan, and apricot online from fruitawoods.com :)
 
I second fruitawoodchunks. The shipping is included in the cost of the wood, and they are great to deal with. Good quality wood!
 
Call your local Kroger store and see if they stock any. I was in a Kroger moments ago and they had Hickory, Oak and Apple.

No Kroger stores in the Chicago or Rockford area. The closest is in central Il. There are some Food 4 Less stores which are owned by Kroger, but may not carry the same stuff.
 
You can go on-line DoItBest and pay for your order on-line and pick up at your local store with no shipping fees.

In the fall when I run out of peach and apple, I order from them until I restock from the orchards again.
