I know I look forward to spending the day prepping and smoking something on the que. Between smelling the smoke, hanging outside smoking cigar while waiting...the samples..sometimes I enjoy the cooking as much as actually eating.

What do you guys think... whats more enjoyable to you..the queing or the eating ?

Good question! I like eating Q. Depending on the weather, it's a toss up. Right now its hot and high humidity so eating Q in the AC wins hands down. Dont forget a bottle of the frosty brew to aid in consumption!

I do like to make an event of it for sure. i hang out in the screen room with the fans blasting and enjoy the smoke. Even my over nighters are an event, although ever since I got a pit boss for my egg, over nighters are much more restful.

So I would have to say I like both, the eating and the smoking!

good question--really think my joy is in the process and once the food is on the table my interest wanes---nothing like seeing the pleasure others receive from our efforts

Personally - I prefer watching friends/family (especially my kids) enjoy eating my que when it turns out well.

Smoking is fun - especially with a brown mumbler or two.

^^^^+1

I liking cooking eat, I like eating it but I really like seeing others enjoy food I have prepared for them.

Now that I think about it I'm always excited to cook. I think to myself I can't wait to smoke this or grill this. And I'm always thinking about starting that fire and getting this wood or that wood. I'm never actually saying I can't wait to eat this after I smoke it. So I'd have to say I really enjoy the cooking being outside with family and friends more than actually eating.

Amen

I don't think I would enjoy the food quite as much if I wasn't somehow involved in the process. The food is more rewarding when I've been so involved in it. I think I could que without eating actually.

D) All of the above.

I get more from the cooking than the eating. If it is a long smoking process, I often can't even make myself eat it until the next day. Even when the rest of the family is gobbling it down and saying how good it is, I'll just sip a drink and nod.

I attended a bbq class by Mike Davis of Lotta Bull about a month ago and that was one of the first things he mentioned too.

Great question. I enjoy cooking and seeing all of the happy faces. It gives me a thrill to be able to give someone BBQ that I know that they will love.

I like to eat a lot when others cook and I enjoy the food more. When I cook I only eat a little bit and I don't enjoy it as much. I think by the time everything is said and done and the food is on the table I am saturated with the smell of it that it just does not taste the same.

I like the smoking/grilling and watching everybody enjoy it. By the time I get done with the cooking sampling carving/pulling and drinking of the Ale I'm not usually that hungry I like eating I the next day its usually better the next day anyway and if there's not enough left for a big plat I put it in a fatty now that's good.

I like cooking for others and seeing them enjoying it cause I will be full from the sampling:becky:
This is pretty much how I am. I love the prep and actual cooking, and I enjoy even more seeing others enjoy my food. I usually enjoy the food more the next day or later in the week. Of course, when I eat it then I start thinking about my next cook...

This is a great question. For me, the process is usually more enjoyable than the end result, although I get great pleasure from the positive feedback I get from my guests. The one exception to this is when I really "knock it out of the park" - when the finished product is so good that even I think it's great.

Generally speaking though, I find there is this "switching gears" process that involves going from cooking to eating that perhaps gets in the way of fully enjoying what I've prepared - I'm so focused on the "cooking" part that it takes time to get into "eating" mode, if that makes sense...
