• xenforo has sucessfully updated our forum software last night. Howevr, that has returned many templates to stock formats which MAY be missing some previous functionality. It has also fixed some boroken templates Ive taken offline. Reat assured, we are working on getting our templates back to normal, but will take a few days. Im working top down, so best bet is to stick with the default templates as I work thru them.

What would you do?

Quick question, about to do some short ribs. I bought them just before thanksgiving in cryovac. The sell by date was 16 December. Opened them up and they smell like a bad fart, baby poop. They look fine not brown, normal. I washed them off got them trimmed up right now. About tempted to throw them away for they will be guests over tonight. What would you do?

Did the smell go away after washing? If so, they will be fine, but if they still smell rotten it would be time to take them back for a refund.

Also since the sell by date was a little ways away I left them in the fridge?

As of right now there did get slightly better but still a smell

What would I do?? I'm anti "baby poop" smelling anything. Are you pressed for time? Return them, buy boxed salad medley some ground chuck and Newmans garlic pasta sauce, some good noodles a couple loaves of fresh French bread and a black box of red. It will take you longer to get to the store and back than it will to cook. Extra touch order a delivered cheese pizza.

No doubt in my mind. In the trash they go. I was in the hospital for 7 days for eating bad pork chops I had food poisoning . I had hoses up my nose and my stomach pumped for 1 week I thought I was going to die. Maybe I might b a little paranoid but if anything smells just a little strange it gets trashed if you have to r in vinegar and soap on it to get it to smell OK that should tell you something

Not For Guests!!!!....... but I'd cook them anyway and see what you think,...but get the Pizza.

I had a bad rack once. Rotten smell never completely went away. I tossed them in the trash.

I was going to say get a jar of jalapeño jelly to spoon on the cheese pizza but you do want these guests to eventually go home, right?

Take them back, get a refund or a new rack. At least in my neck of the woods they are too expensive to toss but not worth getting sick.

Well thanks. As much as I didn't want to, I tossed them. I did not want to take a chance and get somebody sick. I've bought these a few times, this is the first with a off smell. When I removed the membrane it was slimy underneath unlike in the past. Fortunately I have more than enough meat for tonight's party.

Yes, they sound bad. Good call, I would have thrown them out or taken them back. Not worth a hospital visit.

Smells like baby poop? I'd have the wife change em, then hand em back to me.
