Is anyone going to be cooking this weekend? I told my wife I want to smoke some pork chops and my son in law is jumping up and down looking for them. May also try pork loin or just some chicken if I cook.

I was asked to cook for a KCBS CBJ class for sat. So i have quite alot on the grates

15 bb
10 chix breast
18 legs
48 thighs
4 butts
2 brisket

just might have to add a couple of fatties maybe some sausage

Will fire up something on Sunday for football. Probably give some St. Louis styles a trial rather than my usual babybacks and also some chicken thighs. It's no longer about enjoying a dinner but perfecting the method

Will,

You cooking for the class tomorrow in Franklin Square????? If so I'll see you there.

P.S. They said to turn all the food in at 1:30pm

Smoker will probably sit silent this weekend since I'll be judging in Ashland. Should be a good time.

Change in plans already looks like pulled pork on Sunday. Oh well nothing can be better than spending Sunday watching NFL, drinking beer, and pulling pork.

And to think....You don't even have to get off the couch!!!!!!!!!

Wasn't gonna cook this weekend, butttttttttttttttttt. Stopped at the store after work for a gallon of milk, and I'm like a kid in the candy shop. The butcher was slicing chuck roasts, so I got him to cut me one double thick for pulled beef. The spares looked too thick and meaty to pass up so 2 racks of spares. Chickens were on sale and I been kind of getting into that spatchcocked thing, 1 chicken. Fatties go without saying.

Saw an ad in the local paper for firewood for sale. Called the guy and asked if he had any piles of just oak with nothing else mixed in. ten four good buddy. Got an appointment with the wood guy at 10:00 AM Sat. This will be new for me. Been a hard core Kingsford guy up to now. The SKD is just such a fuel hog and straight wood would be much more economical for me here where wood is plentyfull and inexpensive. Kingsford is over $7.00 per 20lb bag where I live.

I'm in class all weekend, so looks like only grilling for me. I caught top sirloin steak on sale for $2.99 a pound last weekend, so I'll prolly do a couple of those. Beats a poke in the eye.

Just re-read this and realized how it reads. In any case hope all have good safe weekends.

Nothing special planned although I just an add in the Meijer's flier for whole eye of the round roast at $1.79/lb. I like to cook these using Phil's prime rib recipie. Sunday I'll be cooking hundreds of brats, dogs, and burgers for our parish picnic. I'm going to load up the 'dera smoke the brats for a while ahead of time before tossing them on the Weber Kettles.

Neil, those smoked and then finished brats on the kettle sound great. A church picnic, sounds great. You sure made me hungry this morning!

Starting with some ABTs and a Fatty. Then I going to smoke a few Chickens.
I may pick up a few Porterhouse for the grill.

Just threw on a pork loin and 4 packs of spares. Used Big Mista's rub on the pork loin and Mary's Cherry Rub on the ribs.

Made a pot of Gumbo last night. Today is my first day in the branch so I won't be cooking.

Pork loin looked lonely. Added a couple of fatties to keep him company.
