Anybody have plans or things set up? Thinking about something simple like ribs & fatties.

Will probably grill Sat. and Sun., chicken one night and steak the other. Too many freeze damaged plants to dig out and not enough time to babysit a fire. :x

Talking about buying meat has me thinking about a turkey boob, and maybe some ribs. Also, I might boil a pot of peanuts, as I spotted some fresh jap and hab peppers at Publix today. I would like to try a butt, but have not made up my mind. Maybe next weekend.

Curing only for me this weekend. New SKD arrived today. Naturally it's already assembled. Add the baffle mod while I was at it. Got to get some fire brink or sand for the bottom of the smoker box - haven't decided which yet and I think I want to do the deflector mod too. Not sure on that one. But, if the rain holds off I'm gonna spray her down with peanut oil and season the thing. Next weekend I'll doubtless do my first real cook.

Funeral services for the Itty Bitty Cook n' Carry will be private. Send a non-refundable donation to the ScottM43000 Fattie Fund.........

:D

Found Prime Rib Roast today for 6.77lb and i'm doing Poohbah's method right now, couldn't wait for the weekend.Picked up some fresh friers i'll do on Sat.

I just discovered an emergency situation--call 911!
I am totally out of frozen Fatties

Gonna fix that Saturday.

Anyone know the "Fattie Capacity" of the WSM?

TIM

9 lb butt and a couple fatties going in the smoker tomorrow 8)

I'm undecided... The only thing I know for sure is that I will be smoking the canadian bacon that has been curing for the last 10 days...

just rubbed down a 8# picnic shoulder with Pork Rub courtesy of cookswithfire.

SMoking that, and possibly a texas packer cut, starting a 5pm tomorrow on an all nighter on the WSM

Nothing planned yet. I know I won't be cooking on Saturday plus the weather is suppose to tank this weekend.

Sounds interesting Ron. I'd like to try that one of these days.

I am smoking at home for the first time in months. Gonna do a mess of butts for pulled pork sandwiches for next weekends garage sales. The whole neighborhood has garage sales and the place is crazy. Lots of people have hot dogs and such. I'm going to knock em out with pulled pork this year. While I am at it, I will do some ribs, some chicken, some beef jerky, and a couple of fatties.

Will you be selling the pork samichs?

I know you don't sell them to your neighbors, but I mean, we have a neighborhood garage sale thingy, and the people that come are definitely not your neighbors.

Um, I forgot to mention, my brother in law will be home when I get there, so I have massive quantities to drink and Xbox Deathmatches to also "struggle" with.

I'll let you know how it turns out... I used a boneless loin half and the cure is TQ and brown sugar.

We have a city-wide garage sale coming up in a couple of weeks, and I was thinking of roasting a bunch of coffee and selling coffee... I don't know if there is a liability involved in food products at a garage sale, however.

I decided on my weekend cook... I bought an 8 lb butt this afternoon and its in a brine right now. It will be Kalua Luau Pork by Sunday afternoon. An friend from a home coffee roasting list sent me the recipe and it is supposed to be great. If it turns out to be good, I'll post the recipe.

1:30am, picnic shoulder on for 4 hours.

1.75 ltr vodka gone. not much left.

Bro in law and I plowing through Xbox and cajun peanuts.

Its a good night

Yep. I will be selling them. And, yep they are not the neighbors. They come from all over the place. It is the only day of the year that there are traffic problems in goose lake. A few neighbors will show up and they will get free sammiches.

I don't know if there is a liability involved in food products at a garage sale, however.

Probably, but everybody out here does it. If nobody in your area sells food at their garage sale, it would be worth it to sell hot dogs and sodas.

I would think it falls along the lines of a kids lemonade stand.

You're overthinking it!

Tim and I have "interviewed" numerous vendors and concessionaires - and NOT A ONE admits to having a health certificate or business license. :D

For a neighborhood thing I certainly wouldn't sweat it. Trying to setup on the side of the road or at your favorite corner - I'd get some credentials.

Also, Parrothead is a restaurant owner - he can just play the "catering" game - his place is his "commissary" and inspected! :D

Activities for the weekend: did some sirloins last night on the grill. Doing chicken tomorrow on the kettle. Maybe do a test burn on the new cooker! But, that'll probably be Monday evening!!
