• xenforo has sucessfully updated our forum software last night. Howevr, that has returned many templates to stock formats which MAY be missing some previous functionality. It has also fixed some boroken templates Ive taken offline. Reat assured, we are working on getting our templates back to normal, but will take a few days. Im working top down, so best bet is to stick with the default templates as I work thru them.

I found a Weber 22 1/2 One Touch Silver is great condition for $10 at a yard sale 3 doors down from me this morning. I already have a 22 1/2 hinged grate for it, so I'll just get a terra cotta pot for an ashcatcher and I'm good to go. We all have an obligation to give these unwanted classics a new loving environment. Funny part is my wife just got me a new 22 1/2 " One Touch Gold" last week for my birthday. Since I'm mad at Home Depot, I'm going to return it in it's unopened box.

Welcome and Congratulations! Why the terra cotta ash catcher?

Great score!

I wish I could find something like that around here. I have been checking Craigslist faithfully for a couple of months now -- not one Weber product shows up close enough to warrent the trip.

Nice pick up Ron...

FYI to others... Ron's wife seems to love buying him BBQ stuff.. At the Yardley, PA contest they came to visit... she broke out a notebook out of her pocketbook and began taking notes on brand names and est. costs for things I might have had that Ron may not own yet.. (ex. Spicewine, Coleman water heater, etc..) Ron's got a winner ...

Thanks Vinny, yes I do. She's a little puzzled about my returning the new one, but I do have some principles and since no one at Home Depot helped her lift the thing off the shelf or helped put it in the cart and I had a lousy customer relations experience with a manager last week, I had to return it. There's too many other alternatives to put up with bad customer service.

BTW, I read on the Virtual Bullet site, that a terra cotta pot makes a nice substitute for the ash pan the "Gold" has, since it wont let the ashes blow all over like the ash catcher on the silver.

OK - I get it! I saw a reply to a post and didn't do a search for it. Probably a good idea to hip the Silver owners to. Here is my rescued "Mr.Blues"

He still has the Weber logo painted on the wood handles.

How dare they do that to my favorite Aunt.......Why are you patronizing Home Depot anyways? Your son-in-law works for Lowe's. Anyways, I'm scouring your neighborhood next time we are down....whether there is a garage sale or not. Great find!

Where do I sign up to be a member of this league??

I'm already a foster parent so I might as well try to save some orphaned Webers while I'm at it!!

Although I haven't noticed that there is much of a problem with orphaned Webers around here!

Its simple Z. You scour CL in every are within a hundred miles of where you live. Some fool is looking to off load his Weber that was maybe used 10 times if at all. You find him, and offer him 20 bucks.
OR...
You can do what I do. Drive around your surrounding neighborhoods on trash nite looking for that perfect score.

Then....
You post pics here of your new addition in action.

My Weber is the best corn maker ever.

If you live in or near a college town, I suggest hitting the alleys as the students leave for summer. You may even score a dorm sized fridge for the garage.

Lowe's dosent sell the Weber Gold. Bri, I could have had another one last week. I was taking clients for a final walk thru on a house and lo and behold, there was a Weber 22 1/2" Silver sitting on the curb next to the trash. I was all dressed up, had the car not the suv and didn't think it would project a professional image having a kettle sticking out of the trunk while I'm showing houses. It was in Smyrna, so by the time I could hav gone home and got the truck and gone back, it most likely would have been gone. I had nightmares over that one.

Can't blame you over that one tho.......I agree, I wouldn't buy a house from a "dumpster diver"....lol. Heck, if you did try to get it with your clients there, they may have included a new grill in your commission.
