• xenforo has sucessfully updated our forum software last night. Howevr, that has returned many templates to stock formats which MAY be missing some previous functionality. It has also fixed some boroken templates Ive taken offline. Reat assured, we are working on getting our templates back to normal, but will take a few days. Im working top down, so best bet is to stick with the default templates as I work thru them.

Can someone please advise what I need to make my run and bottle it and sell it? A friend and I are seriously wanting to start a small business and not sure where to find the containers, what size, how to seal etc. I've done some research but I'm not finding the answers I need. Please help!!

Some states require the product to be made and packaged in an approved food processing facility. This would require you to use a food packer to buy the ingredients, mix the product, package, and label it for you.

As stated above, start your inquiry with local health department regulations and requirements, as these can vary not only county to county, but also state to state.

Maybe BigMista (Neil) can chime in and help answer a few question for California?

Don't forget insurance, business license, LLC or however you set up the business....all that fun stuff :biggrin1::biggrin1:

Co packer all day. Don't mess with trying to get all the equipment and licenses yourself. I'm sure if you do a google search or ask around you will find a few places that will co pack for you.

Definitely talk to your local health department if you're selling to strangers, they can tell you what you need to do or probably give you the contact info of a copacker. I'd personally try giving it to friends, coworkers and family first and use them as a kind of cheap focus group to get a feel for what other people think.

Good luck. Talked to a guy at a bbq competition about buying his bbq sauce. He told me that he doesn't sell it due to the legal end of it. Between needing to meet all the inspections, insurance and various other things he said it would be extremely difficult to break even never mind make $$. He did mention a co-packer...but in the end by the time they got their % he still didn't think he would see much $$ in the end.

With all the rubs on the market, what will make yours different? Tho is the first question you have to ask.
