• xenforo has sucessfully updated our forum software last night. Howevr, that has returned many templates to stock formats which MAY be missing some previous functionality. It has also fixed some boroken templates Ive taken offline. Reat assured, we are working on getting our templates back to normal, but will take a few days. Im working top down, so best bet is to stick with the default templates as I work thru them.

Just had a 4x12 stack delivered. This will be used for both the fireplace and for smoking. When the guy got here I confirmed with him it's all oak and hickory and tell him I'm going to use it for smoking too.

He stops and does a double take and says, 'Man I wish you had told me...there's some cherry mixed in there too...just not sure where it is on the truck load.' So he calls out to the guy helping load and tells him to pull any cherry he has to the side. I end up with about 20-16 inch logs of cherry too!!

Boom!

The whole load

The cherrywood

That cherry wood is some good stuff. Congrats on that

The guy suggested soaking chunks of cherry in apple juice for 24 hours before using it to smoke.

Everything I've read says soaking is a waste of time. Meathead has an article showing the liquid doesn't get in more than a few millimeters no matter how long you soak.

My wife says maybe a couple mm of apple juice is enough to make a difference. Dunno.

Very nice. Look pretty well seasoned, too. I have finally found a fellow in my area that I can trust for supplying seasoned bbq wood.

Look like you you are set.

To be honest I was a little apprehensive about opening this post, but I can now say I actually envy your wood. Nice load!
