• xenforo has sucessfully updated our forum software last night. Howevr, that has returned many templates to stock formats which MAY be missing some previous functionality. It has also fixed some boroken templates Ive taken offline. Reat assured, we are working on getting our templates back to normal, but will take a few days. Im working top down, so best bet is to stick with the default templates as I work thru them.

Okay!
There have been some really serious posts lately and this one is meant to cheer people up or at least laugh at me.

So last year after re-building 40 or so "charbroil" type gas grills, I bought a stainless steal, model 2500 Pro Series made by Brinkman last year right before the holidays. A few months ago I noticed that the damn thing was already rusting out - cast iron burners and other parts and I never - ever spray water into it to kill a grease flame up.

Anyway, I start to grill these ribs - tonight - that the blonde unit - woman I live with - bought and a few are really fatty. SOB's catch fire.

So I go into the house to bitch about the cheap ass meat she bought and she is cleaning her toe nails with my FAVORITE WOOD HANDLED steak knive - well I have only two and she is using one of them.

I know most of you have more severe problems than I do and I do tend to let the "little things" get to me, but this really pissed me off.

Solution to the problem: Cook no more steaks so I won't have to use that knife!

Here comes pulled pork sammiches and more other Q that doesn't need that special knife.

Point of the post: Can you re-build this gas grill?

I've got the same unit. Have to admit I haven't realy used it to cook much but that electronic ignition on the sidecar is nice for lighting charcoal chimneys. You shouldn't need to replace anything. Those cast iron burners will last a long time. You've probably got grease build up. Just fire it with all 4 burners on high and let er go for an hour or so. That should burn up any residual grease. Here's a pic of mine as a virgin.

That looks like the 3 burner. BeerGuy took me by the sleeve to Walmart when the 4 burner Brinkman first came out. Both of us thought of buying one but really didnt need a new gasser at the time. Now all of em are 3 burner.

More burners=more fuel. That sucker will eat a 20# cylinder faster than the water heater in my RV. Nice unit all in all, but a gas hog! The only reason I bought it was that it was a model year old and on clearance for $175. The retail is $400.

A trick to cleaning out The gassers. Prepare a few pieces of heavy duty foil that will cover the whole grate area with a double layer and a little extra to go up the side a bit. Light the burners and put on low, Cover the entire top of the grill area with the double layer of Heavy duty foil(shiney side down). Push it snugly against the walls so its as tight as possible. Then turn the burners up full blast for 20-30 minutes with the cover closed.

self cleaning mod.. All grease build up will turn to grey ash.. the ceramics, flavor bars, grate, everyhting gets good and clean. You can then either clean it out with the shop vac, or if your lazy, use the leaf blower. ;)

I hope she washed them before you ate!!!

Brauma was right. About 3 years ago I found the 4 burner 2500 for $288 at Wallyworld, minus the gas cylinder. It had a smoker box built in on the right side. Couldn't pull the trigger that year. The next year I found the 3 burner, cheaply made frame unit, but had the same grates, the same cast iron burners, and the same electronic ignition. I bought it at Lowes for about 175. The first time I did a slow and slow indirect heat for a couple hours, the electronic ignition crapped out. I called Brinkman and here's how the conversation went.
Beerguy "My new grill ignitor doesnt work.'
Brinkman rep "Did it get hot?"
Beerguy "Its a grill, of course it got hot, thats why I bought it."
Brinkman rep "If they get overheated we have found they fail. Did it get wet?"
Beerguy " Its a farking outside grill, it gets hot and it gets wet when it rains."
Brinkman rep "we have found that if they get hot or wet they can fail."

After more conversations with this gentleman, he agreed to send a replacement ignition box, as soon as they came off backorder. Long story, they have now sent me 2 more because "if they get hot or wet, they fail"
I like the grill, but its cheap, and be prepared for long wait times on hold for customer service.

The PQ Man,
First off, buy that girl a manicure set. You can get one at Wally World for about $3.00. While you are there, pick up a $19.00 charcoal grill and a small bag of charcoal. Use that until it burns out the bottom (about 4 years) and throw it away. Wallaw, you got a grill with no problems, no gas, no frills just a good grill. Start a fire and grill!!!!!
Now, that will be $200.00 for my fee to solve your problem. I do take CC on the phone.
Smoke On!!!!

I have an old Sunbeam gasser that BeerGuy and a couple other buddies at work gave me for a wedding present. I have not used the thing since I started participated in this group. That was last May. Farkin thing may not even light now. Dont care. My attitude may change but Im in the frame of mind that if its worth grilling its worth the time to light coals.

Ive got an outside kitchen in mind that will include a nice Jenair or other stainless built-in to the counter gasser. I'll need to hit a small lotto to build the whole design but its in the plans none the less.

Thanks for all the advice and support. I mainly use the gas grill to heat up stuff I smoke in my Oklahoma Joe Longhorn or in the little electric I bought because of the burn ban in Texas.
I have a welder and plan on building a wood / charcoal grill this summer.
I got the knife clean.

that's a pretty fancy way to light charcoal.

The next time she picks her toenails with your steak knife grab her hair brush and scratch your ass with it. That should fix the problem.

I noticed your picture of the 2500 was of the "new" version, minus the smoker box. wish they had left it in, maybe I would have sprung for the 4 burner but I find the three burner works great, especially of beer can chicken. i turn the two outside burners on, leave the middle off, and there ya go. Glad your knife is clean and ready. Maybe you need to use a nail trimmer in the kitchen to trim up greens or celery just to make a point!

LMAO....Now that was funnnnnniiiiieeee She would kick his arse if
he even picked up the hair brush

She must be a hell of a woman if shes still around after violating his favorite steak knife like that. I think she can take it if he scratches his arse with the brush.
