• xenforo has sucessfully updated our forum software last night. Howevr, that has returned many templates to stock formats which MAY be missing some previous functionality. It has also fixed some boroken templates Ive taken offline. Reat assured, we are working on getting our templates back to normal, but will take a few days. Im working top down, so best bet is to stick with the default templates as I work thru them.

If you could have any vertical style cooker either basket or gravity which brand and model would you choose and why

Gateway drum everyday. I've never been a fan of any of the insulated, vertical smokers. I've been much more satisfied with drums.

270 Smoker.
~Insulated to cook in all weather
~Very efficient on fuel
~Open the door to add/remove food, no removing top rack to get to bottom rack
~Cost is lower than other cookers of comparable size
~Not as heavy as similar sized cooker, easy to move when kicked back on it's wheels (great center of gravity)
~Best cooker on the market for the $$$ IMO

Humphrey's... built well, custom options are pretty much endless, rock solid temps even in sub zero weather. Good customer service after the sale. Won many awards with mine :thumb:

Assassin Gravity Fed. Rock solid build. Hold temps steady for hours. Great customer service. Check & compare what comes standard on the Assassin vs others and the no charge customizations they offer. Best bang for the buck, IMHO.

My Stumps is still my favorite.

I have thought about getting rid of it a couple of times just to get something else, but she always makes the cut. 8 years old and still love how it cooks.

Agreed! Love my Stumps. I call it the Ron Popeil cooker, "set it and forget it"

Pretty sure I'd buy a Deep South GC series if I were get a new insulated vertical pit today

Spicewine.......they are built like brick chit houses and last forever. Perhaps the last smoker you would ever need as they can last a lifetime.

Can't go wrong with any of the Humphrey's Smokers, from the Standard line to Plus line. They are built to last, fuel efficient, recovery time after opening the door is within a few minutes and they turn out some delicious Q!!!!

I love my Boathouse. It's built like a tank and you can set it and forget it. I wanna upgrade to thei insulated.
Model next year.

Look at Lonestar Grillz Verticals.

Their craftsmanship looks to be second to none.

ALL the above are awesome cookers and will All do the job. Watch a bunch of vids on Youtube and one brand will grab you like LSG's did me.
