• xenforo has sucessfully updated our forum software last night. Howevr, that has returned many templates to stock formats which MAY be missing some previous functionality. It has also fixed some boroken templates Ive taken offline. Reat assured, we are working on getting our templates back to normal, but will take a few days. Im working top down, so best bet is to stick with the default templates as I work thru them.

Used OK Joe how much would you pay

Is it just me, or does the lid seem a bit "off" on the left? Seems to have a big gap...maybe due to the bags of match light and all the lighter fluid inside?

I'd go in with an offer of 125...add 5-10 if he will keep the contents of the chamber. :heh:

EDIT: Its value really depends on whether it is pre-Char Broil...

I know hoping it is older, when was pre char broil? anybody?

Charbroil bought them in '98...I think the original owner had sold the brand to someone else the year prior.

I bought one that had been returned to Lowe's because the original purchaser didn't like it & decided he/she wanted a gasser. Probably used once. Paid $185.

You will have to work with it a bit: make/buy a tuning plate, a baffle & raise the charcoal grate. & see if you can massage the pranged door to fit the cook chamber.

So... with that in mind, I'd go $150. After all, it is used & 50% of original cost is very fair to the seller. 40% is more like it.

It's a COS & nothing you do will change that much. I'm happy with mine. Don't use it that much, but it produces the best smoke flavored meat of all my cookers.

I still say go in a bit lower...around 125...before you make an offer, walk around it with him and point out every flaw other than basic surface rust...the door etc...make sure to touch each dent, ding or whatever as you mention it...devalue it in his mind's eye...same trick the guy appraising your trade-in at the car dealership is trained to do.
I used to be that guy! :heh:

no more than $100 if it's in working and not all bent up....

is it a Highland?

Just look them up at Walmart which i think is lower then take that on your phone to Lowes and have them price match and get the extra 10% off....doing this could get you the same NEW rig for about $220 plus tax...

unless funds are an issue then MAYBE $125....

If its the longhorn its a fair deal. I wouldnt pay more than 100 for it as a hiland.

This appears to be one produced after Charbroil buyout. They used to sell at Sam's Club for about $399. The fire box bolted onto, not welded onto, the cook chamber. Appears to be missing front outside shelf. Also appears to be less than 1/4" steel. I'm more in the $100-125 dollar range. Thermometer is in the wrong place for grate temp. The exhaust stack needs to be at grate level. Needs a deflector plate at the fire box. Also, check the bottom of the fire box to make sure it isn't near to rust out due to neglect of removing ashes.

Good luck,

Robert

I left a message last night, farker hasn't called back

I'm kind of pretentious when it comes to stick burners, but I would really pass on this one. That bent door is going to give you constant issues and the other issues have already been pointed out. I just can't see how this would be worth your time or money.
