This past Friday I was browsing craigslist when I found this. The guy had just posted it 10 minute prior and was giving it away for free. He just got a new FEC100 and didnt need this one anymore. Its a New Braunfels, about 8 years old. Its in pretty good condition. It has some light rust on the surface of the firebox and the wood slats are pretty worn but everything else about it is in great shape. Its cast iron so it seems like it will hold heat pretty well, its pretty heavy. So after a can or two of spray paint and some new wood slats, it will be as good as new.

Great find, don't forget the heat deflector for added efficiency!

I plan on putting on a heat deflector. I did a test burn yesterday and I found that when it was heating up, the difference in temperature between the firebox side and the far side was about 100 degrees. After the temp stabilized it was more like 50 or 60 degrees.

Also, I hear that putting a couple bricks in the bottom of the main chamber not only provides a place for a water pan or drip pan to sit but also helps stabilize the temp inside and retain heat if the doors are opened up.

Heck ya that will do great to fill up with some corn... Heck that is fine for anything. Nice Score!!!

i never put anything permamant heat deflector wise on mine..sometimes I liked having that hot spot on the left side for doing up chicken
