• xenforo has sucessfully updated our forum software last night. Howevr, that has returned many templates to stock formats which MAY be missing some previous functionality. It has also fixed some boroken templates Ive taken offline. Reat assured, we are working on getting our templates back to normal, but will take a few days. Im working top down, so best bet is to stick with the default templates as I work thru them.

today i picked up a drum, it had contained vegetable oil. i gathered up all the goodies i needed and in an hour or two the building process was complete. here is my question. i loaded the basket with briquet's and fired her up. all the vents (1 1/4 close nipples with caps) are full open and she is running over 400 degrees. i can easily see this thing going till sun up tomorrow. should it be safe to cook in after that?

Did it have a coating on inside of drum? If it did might want to see if the heat loosened it up, use wire brush. If not load her up. You know no one believes you unless you post pics! Contrary to popular belief not all drums look alike.

I would think it would be fine to cook in. Personally, I would build one big raging fire with some limbs and such. Get the flames up over the top of the barrel then let them die down. Then you KNOW she is ready to cook. Plus it will burn most, if not all, of the paint off the sides.

Best of luck bro!!!

ok, well 72 views and so far i havent gotten the "dont use it yet or you will die"post. gonna toss a fattie out there and maybe some chicken quarters today. just in case i think i will make sure there is plenty of beer on hand in case of emergency.
