Anyone like these? I picked up a pound of ground turkey on sale this weekend. Thought i'd do a "healthy meal " for a change. I mixed up a little paste of garlic and some coarse salt then added a little balsamic vinegar, worteschire sauce and hot sauce and mixed this in with the burger and grilled them. They were..well..ok but pretty dry and not a lot of meat flavor. I didnt tell the kids they were turkey. Daughter said they were ok but not very juicey. Son liked them , but he'll wolf down about any kinda meat. Oh well..the roasted sweet potato wedges were tasty!
Bring on the pork n beef! :)

I take the ground turkey and mix in a bit of southwest seasoning (if you don't have a store-bought you like, just wing it with chili powder, cumin, garlic, onion, cayenne, s&p, etc...) and some of your favorite salsa. This makes a really wet mix so I mix in crushed tortilla chips just like you would put breadcrumbs in a meatloaf. Go easy on the salt if you make up your own seasoning because there's a lot on the chips. Spray the grill so they don't stick an away you go!
I top them with bell pepper rings and red onions that I marinate and then grill and some jack cheese (pepper jack if you like). I serve them on a kaiser roll with some sour cream and guacamole spread on it.
These turkey burgers do not suck, I guarantee it.

You can mix that ground turkey into ground beef and make meatballs with it too. It makes them lighter and more tender and you'd never know there was turkey in there.

I use very lean beef for burgers. To help make up juiciness, I add finely chopped onion. You could also use a cheese shredder to get smaller pieces.

I usually server turkey burgers with sautéed mushrooms or onions to make up for some of the moisture loss. You other option is to undercook them but then you run the risk of getting in trouble with the food police.

For taste and a real healthy treat I say wrap the Turkey Buger in Bacon!:-D

We love em. I mash it with an egg, some crushed saltines and a few dabs of liquid smoke. Not as good as the real thing, but healthy.

As long as you got some good buns and burger fixins its all good.

Thanks for the tips, Kirk. The wife is always getting on my case about trying this kind of healthier stuff-- and I can't stand any of it that I've tried. I really have to make some changes, though, so this will be handy. Thanks.

We have replaced ground beef with ground turkey exclusively for the last 3 years. Chili, meatloaf, burgers etc. Everyone in our family prefers the clean taste of the ground turkey. We add many things to turkey burger with outstanding results. I didn't notice if you used the ground turkey breast which is nearly 0 % fat or the 7 % ground turkey. The ground turkey breast is too too dry. We use only the 7% ground turkey. It's just as easy to kick up the turkey as it is the beef. Keep trying! I have got to try a suedo fatty using turkey. Let's call it a "Leaner".

I think this was actually 10% fat. I did make some "mini" turkey burgers a while back with gorgonzala cheese mixed in along with some other seasonings. served them on "mini" buns with roasted red pepper sauce for card party. they went over pretty good. Might give 'em another try..but...nothing satisfy's like beef!

i wonder if ground venison is healthier than turkey. i know it tastes a lot better.

No sweat man. The burgers can still be dry if you overdo them but with all that other good stuff on there, no one's ever complained.

my wife adds about four ounces of apple sauce and a half pack of lipton onion soup mix to one pound of ground turkey breast. they come out pretty moist this way.

Probably. Also you can check out ground bison. It's very lean also.
