I wanted to try out the new rotisserie mod for my weber. The mod aint done all the way. Im still in the process of finishing up the aluminum ring that holds the lid. But since today is a nice 75* no winds day, i decided to just have an open pit rotisserie. I knew from the start i would use ALOT more charcoal. So far im on chimney two. Here are some pics of what i did. I marinated the chicken in lemon juice, orange juice, thyme, sage, salt, pepper and garlic. Then injected with lemon and orange juice. Stuffed the dang thing with lemon and orange pieces.

enjoy

Thanx. I need to try spatchcoked next..Ya ill be takin some more pic in about 20 min or so when it is done. It SMELLS soo dang GOOD. I have some homemade coleslaw for the side as well. The rotisserie cost me 25$ and the 7inch by 10 foot aluminum flashing cost me 10$. so for 35$ i gots me a nice rotisserie kit.

I used some homemade applesauce bbq sauce for a glaze on part of it. Some of you guys here know T from utah. He gave me this recipe. i added another half cup applesauce and some liquid smoke.

  • 1 cup applesauce
  • 1/2 cup ketchup
  • 2 cups brown sugar ( if too sweet go to 1 cup)
  • 6 tablespoons lemon juice
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
