We needed a change in proteins, and we love salmon. Time to plank!

Dusted with Trader Joe's Everything Seasoning, and walking the cedar plank on the BGE. :)

The planks smoked great and the plate killed. :)

The Missus and I are happy campers!

Looks great, but I dont get the point of planks. Seems like a money grab. I have tried those planks and i notice no difference in flavor just cooking on a grate. Personally i prefer to cook on the black stone.

Awesome cook. When I cook salmon I love to be in control of my scene. Usually it's for The Bride but there are those times when I buy a high quality slab, season, smoke/grill the bejusus out of it, crumble and make salmon patties. Damn they're fine. Like high end restaurant fine.

Excellent cook and great photos. What a great couples meal you prepared

Y'all see the green beans in the ramaken? If my mom had done that growing up I'd probably enjoyed her salmon. Something about green beans water lapping against her pan seared medium salmon, hit wrong. Beautiful

YUM. That looks and sounds amazing. Love planked salmon. How long did you cook it for and at what temp. I have heard that you need to wait till the plank is smoking before you put the fish on and you could prob do those planks on the Blackstone

Not a grab. I wasn't sure what to make of them and then I had planked salmon in a restaurant. It had a whisper of smoke and was nice. I prefer grilled salmon but it works.

Nailed it, John! We love cedar planked salmon too. If you ever get a chance, try maple planks as well. They're tougher to find but worth the effort.

Thanks, George. I had the BGE running at 425. I toasted the planks on both sides before I put the fish on them. They started smoking fairly quickly after that. They cooked for about 14 minutes.

Jamming salmon!

I prefer the BGE for planked salmon, the high heat of the fire and radiant heat from the dome produce results I like. I also like to put lemon slices between the salmon and plank.

Thanks, Greg! I'll try the lemon slices the next time I do this.
