• xenforo has sucessfully updated our forum software last night. Howevr, that has returned many templates to stock formats which MAY be missing some previous functionality. It has also fixed some boroken templates Ive taken offline. Reat assured, we are working on getting our templates back to normal, but will take a few days. Im working top down, so best bet is to stick with the default templates as I work thru them.

Time for me to come out of hibernation

Watching the weather report this evening I see that it is supposed to be 56* next weekend. I have been practicing on a gasser during the winter. It's time to load up the Lang with some wood and do some real practicing. I know what you guys are thinking. Your thinking I am a fair weather BBQ'er and you bet your ass I am. I don't enjoy freezing my tukas off once an hour in 20* temps. I am praying that the weather is breaking and I get to fire that bad boy up every weekend and give the neighbors something to talk about.

I'm with you guy. I don't really enjoy smoking in the cold weather. Especially if its windy. There will be alot of Quing going on this summer all over Long Island.

Not me brothers. I'm an all season cooker.

I cant really remember a w/e I haven't smoked in a the longest time... just got done doinh things, bone in breasts, and turkey legs. yum yum good:mrgreen:

I go into hibernation during the summer. Too dang hot to cook outside in late July, August, Sept.

i love the way the smoke smells on cold winter days, i just didn't feel like standing out in the cold all that much this winter though.

I live in Manorville, out in the pine barrens. The local FD has been called on occasion by neighbors thinking there was a brush fire. Now the Cheif waves as he drives slowly by. I try to warn them, but the neighbors sometimes forget.

Hi, my name is Arlin, and I'd like to cook. Please.

They say we need 3" - 6" of rain before the burn ban is lifted. Come on spring!

We haven't officially heard if our ban is over locally but if I want to cook, I'm gunna... we had soaking rains Friday and all day off and on on Saturday. It would look a little stupid for them to give me a citation for cooking in an enclosed smoker when the ground is saturated...

Jeff, I would cook too, in your position: However did you ever consider that giving you a citation would most likely NOT be the FIRST time a government official looked at least a little stupid?

i'm gettin ready to start a brisket weekend here shortly.. wife finally got me a foodsaver so i'll be making a ton of q and freezin
same weekend will involve making a workbench for my garage, and getting my veggie seeds in the garden..

The mother in law is in for the week and she wants a brisket. Who am I to argue with such a request.

I picked up a 16 pounder from Rest. Depot and plan to put it on the somker this week.

That's cool.

I like the way you photoshop'd the BGE into the snow scene.

A 16 pounder, wow. I'd hate to piss off the steer that was cut from. How long of a cook are you plannin' on?? Will that make about 5 pounds of burnt ends?

Dude, that's not a photo funny, it's actual. It was about 6° outside. The cooker itself was running at about 250° at the grate. The Guru on the shelf was in a snow drift, and the Egg didn't throw enough heat to melt the snow from the blower on the bottom vent.

Here is what Fat Man & Little Boy normally look like. We only have three seasons up here: Winter, 4th of July and road construction.

There is simething nice about huddling up to a nice warm cooker with a brew that I enjoy.

It's cold driving rain/hail or gailforce winds (I dont have a shield) that stops me from cooking rather than the temp!

I think it is supposed to be mid 70's here today........plannin' on doin' some Q on my next days off.
