I just ordered a new Tiernan 4-48 Son of a Brisket grill/smoker and was wondering if anyone else had one and what they thought of it. I had a 10' X 20' cook shed built in my back yard and can't wait for my new Tiernan to be delivered. Thanks.

Congrats on the purchase. I live in Amarillo and know Mike Tiernan. He is a great guy, runs a good business and makes excellent products.

Our company had a Tiernan Son of Brisket ("SOB") cooker exactly like the one you odered for several years. I have used the grill several times for cooking hambugers and hot dogs, and it is a beast! One time, we cooked over 600 hot dogs in less than two hours on the grill.

Having said that, I have never tried to use the grill as a smoker. I'm a "stick burner", so the SOB cooker didn't fit my style when I bought a smoker (i.e., I like the offset firebox vs. the interior smoke box). I have a couple of friends that use the SOB for smoking briskets and ribs, and they are completely satisfied.

Hope this helps.

Got any pics of your cook shed? Sounds like a pretty sweet setup. I'd love a cook shed out back my house.
