• xenforo has sucessfully updated our forum software last night. Howevr, that has returned many templates to stock formats which MAY be missing some previous functionality. It has also fixed some boroken templates Ive taken offline. Reat assured, we are working on getting our templates back to normal, but will take a few days. Im working top down, so best bet is to stick with the default templates as I work thru them.

Hello everybody!

So I have been not cooking as much because the wife and I have been on a health kick. I've lost about 40 pounds so I figure I can lighten up a bit on the diet and enjoy myself a bit. Anywho, having some carne asada and Cornish hens today on the kettle.

On go the hens in indirect!

Now, why is this thread titled "The warmup" you ask?

Spare ribs going on the 18.5 WSM tomorrow :hungry:

Looking good! Color on the hens looks killer. Carne asada at that?

I'm tuned in. :thumb:

Congrats on weight loss. I know how you feel. I just lost a crap load of weight. Enjpoy yourself. That looks gooooood!

Great looking meal and congrats on the weight loss.

Thanks all!! This also gave me a chance to play with my Thermopop. I like it a lot. Some people prefer the pen over the pop because it's faster and easier to hold, but I had no issues with either. Still thinking about the Thermapen though.....

Those birds look fantastic as does the carne asada.
So what Goya sauce is that? I have used a lot of the Goya seasonings but never the sauces.

I've lost about 40 pounds...
Good for you. I'm down 50-55 lbs. I have found it's not the grilled meats and BBQ that cause weight gain, it's all the other stuff - the bread, mac-n-cheese, potatoes, yada yada yada - that are the problem. For me anyways.

Thank you all, and congrats to you guys as well!!

So I woke up this morning with a bunch of leftovers since I had dinner solo. I decided I'd repurpose the carne asada. Here we go!

Shredded the beef

In the pan it goes to warm up!

In goes the eggs

And plated with some green salsa

Here's a pic of the salsa for those wondering

There's been a delay of game on the ribs since I haven't gone to the store and its 10:30am already. Maybe next week! Happy Sunday everyone!
