• xenforo has sucessfully updated our forum software last night. Howevr, that has returned many templates to stock formats which MAY be missing some previous functionality. It has also fixed some boroken templates Ive taken offline. Reat assured, we are working on getting our templates back to normal, but will take a few days. Im working top down, so best bet is to stick with the default templates as I work thru them.

Been reading your forums for a while now, all the advice and help has been very inspiring, this is my first post.

Been smoking on a friends Bandera for many years, now have the yearn for my own, mainly for convenience. Those late night burns are tougher when you have to drive across the neighborhood.

Looking for a Texas made model, am willing to look for a while, because I think the wait will be worth the trouble. Any help locating a new model would be great or if anyone is trading up and willing to sell or bequest an old favorite, I am in North Central Texas. Please let's talk.

Any help would be appreciated.

Welcome. What area you in? There are a few of us around Ft Worth, and a few around Plano area.

I (kinda) understand the Texas thang ... but it sure seems like you should take a hard look at Horizon .... oh God ! .... in neaby OK (I dare not even spell it out). No serious stuff intended. I just think they do very good smokers. Would have had one long ago if the freight (or driving time) was not so terrible.

Only my distant perspective ............

welcome to the site man. good luck on your never ending quest for the perfect Q

Richardson

And I don't mind driving.

I just moved from Wylie. Fatdad lives in Richardson I think. The WalMart at 75 and Midpark use to have some older Banderas in the Garden section. Might give them a look.

Thanks Thillin,

I'm leaving right now!

Can I see your Klose and dream?

Not a dream, just saved and found a great deal.

It's in the thread.

Not to take away from the Bandera, as I have no point of reference for them, but the Horizon is a great cooker. I understand however holding out for what you want. Good Luck to you.

Welcome aboard, head over to cattle call and introduce yourself.

Go by Academy and compare a Bandera to a Longhorn offset. You'll probably want to pay the $400 for the heavier steel Longhorn. I've heard with a few mods, which some can be purchased from Horizon, it's a great cooker for the price.

If you strike out at Wally World take a close look at the boxes you find in Academy. A couple of years ago, I think it has been that long, I came across an American made Bandera in Academy down in Houston. Bought it for parts. Just take a good look at the box.

Edit: It was San Antonio. Houston on the brain this morning.
