• xenforo has sucessfully updated our forum software last night. Howevr, that has returned many templates to stock formats which MAY be missing some previous functionality. It has also fixed some boroken templates Ive taken offline. Reat assured, we are working on getting our templates back to normal, but will take a few days. Im working top down, so best bet is to stick with the default templates as I work thru them.

Thanks IamMadMan!

Huge thanks to IamMadMan! Received a package of Oakridge Game Changer Brine & Injection that he was kind enough to send to me. I have been wanting to try this for quite a while but just haven't gotten around to doing it. I will put this to good use soon and post a thread detailing the cook.

Matt

How totally farkin' cool! Very generous of IamMadMan. I hope you'll share your thoughts once you've tested it

I won 1st place chicken in my last 2 contests with this. I'm hooked :thumb:

My package was at the local post office last night and should be delivered today.

I happen to be off today due to the rain. I may be getting a littlecwet this afternoon.

I've used some of the Oakridge rubs before, but not the brine yet. I think I need to place an order soon and change that.

The Oakridge Game Changer Brine is an awesome product......

I used to brine chicken with good results using a generic brine recipe tweaked to my liking. While the chicken was moist it was lacking flavor, even when using a finishing rub. Then I found Oakridge Game Changer Brine and it seemed like the flavors just exploded in my mouth. Yes, it's a brine and it keeps the chicken moist, even the breasts, but more importantly it also imparts great flavor with a hint of sweetness.

I also like to use Oakridge Game Bird and Chicken Rub because it has a little sweetness and a little hint of heat that both compliment the natural flavors of the chicken.

Thanks, do you use that in combination with the brine?

Yes, I let the skin cook a little then a very light brushing of olive oil to help the rub stick. No, it is not salty.

On your first cook, I would suggest cooking a few pieces with just the brine so you can taste the flavor imparted by the brine and then move on to your next flavor addition from there.
