So the first weekend of March, my barbecue team competed in the Sam's Club cook-off in Shreveport. I don't post often, but lurk here everyday and have admired many of Mike's posts and throw down pictures. Also like his charbroil turkey thread. Anyway, I thought this would be a great time to meet a Brethren. So, I sent Toast (Mike) an PM and invited him to come out to the cook site so that I could meet him. He came out Saturday along with his wife, LuZZiAnn. They got to see the madness of turn in and sample the meats. We visited briefly and then they had to leave. He then contacted me and said he wanted to send my a gift. Hopefully the picture shows up that I copied off of a previous thread thanking him for a gift box. My gift box looked just like this one, but had a couple of extra things including a great mix CD that he made for us to play as we play a lot of music while we are cooking.
I'm glad that I reached out to Mike. He and his wife are the most warm and genuine people. Just plain good folks. The kind that you are proud to be associated with. LuZZiAnn was very funny and kept kidding Toast about why his food didn't taste as good as ours. If you have viewed his throw down posts, it is obvious the man can make some nice looking vittles taht you can't wait to sink your teeth into. We didn't have enough time in our brief visit and I hope to visit with them again when things aren't quite so hectic as turn in time often is.
Thanks again Mike and Ann for the great gift box. It was great to meet you both. I can't wait to try the different mixes and breadings.
Thanks,
Robert
