• xenforo has sucessfully updated our forum software last night. Howevr, that has returned many templates to stock formats which MAY be missing some previous functionality. It has also fixed some boroken templates Ive taken offline. Reat assured, we are working on getting our templates back to normal, but will take a few days. Im working top down, so best bet is to stick with the default templates as I work thru them.

So playing today and tomorrow with the firebox baffle "block plate" Tyler gave me to play with. I wasn't going to fire it up today since we have to leave for a wedding around 2:30, but I woke up early and figured I would start it up and run it for a few hours. Tomorrow I'll cook something.

So only been going for about 2hrs and here is my initial reaction. It's freaking awesome. Now I'll let additional time and actual cooking with it to give a more objective review, but it does exactly what it is intended to do.

I'm doing a video, but here's the short version. Took 45mins to close into 300. Hit 400 as the high and using very little wood. I'm cutting splits in half so used a couple total splits to start with charcoal and that rand the first 90mins at 350 with no issues. I just added 2 more half splits (one full) and it is just cruising.

Oh did I mention top to bottom grate temps are almost identical? :becky::clap2: Bought more oven therms to test and working well. More to come in a bit. Might only run it till 12pm to get things cleaned up and run out to get food for tomorrow. Was just going to do some sausage, but not that it can run as hot as I want will go grab a brisket...................and maybe some butts.............and possibly thaw the turkey I have...............:loco:

I'm really digging that idea. Looking forward to tomorrow's cook. Looks like yet another thing I might need to add to the build sheet. Somebody around here is going to need to get another job!

Awesome and thanks for sharing. Now I wonder if Tyler can handle all the orders for these?

Awesome looking forward to your post tomorrow.
Hay do you think you will be using the Shirley or your BWS's for comps this year?

Awesome! Thanks so much for testing. I think this plug could be the last piece in pulling the trigger (well that and accessing/saving up the cash). It would mean I could get a smaller cook chamber so that you could use the warmer for smaller cooks. Can't wait to see what happens tomorrow with meats in it!

seems like a waste of time and money....as long as you keep the main chamber exhaust closed heat and smoke dont go that way.....

Ran it for about 3.5hrs and it is now shut down and cooling. Ran flawlessly. This one little test is just a small sample size so looking forward to cooking on it tomorrow. Video coming shortly. Uploading to YT now.

Ran out and grabbed a picnic from Publix. Walmart had no briskets oddly. So will run that with some beef ribs in the freezer. I'll post tomorrow's cook in here

Thanks for your positive attitude as always Josh. I hope whatever bothers you inside can be healed. You used to be so nice when you messaged me all the time when you were first getting going. Not sure what happened..........

Be well man :clap2:.

Also I know you are just weakly trolling because that makes you feel better about yourself, but your statement obviously isn't true. Main chamber barely got above 100 today and used way less wood to get the warmer hot. It didn't near 280 last week and I know the main chamber damper was open. That wouldn't happen without the bock plate to directly push all the heat up and not waste any down the chute.

I doubt this addition will cost people an arm and a leg. Keep supporting the bbq community in the same manner you always do. :becky:

Ok so here's another "enthralling" :bored::rolleyes: video I made :twitch:. I hope just this little bit helps answer some questions for those that shot me messages after I got my cooker last week.

Man does it run great with that plate. Time will tell as will tomorrow's cook, but here's some of today's run. Holler with any questions!. Not that I have many answers.........yet.

ya my main chamber barely gets above 100 when i dont use this plate...i just dont think its necessary...

and as far as my problem with you goes....when someone messages u and kindly asks for tips and advice from someone who has been doing it...and they are a pompous a$$hole in return....i cant imagine why a problem would ensue.....but of course u act like "nothing happened"

and lastly stating my opinion on something is not being a troll..its simply that...just because it is opposing of your view...but there again..is your pompous a$$hole attitude i kept encountering...

Sounds good. Glad to hear man. Good to see you handling things well like an adult. I guess if you have more opinions after this one you can send me a pm vs rocking out in all these threads and just cluttering them up :clap2:. Can't please the masses. I also have a youtube channel that loves thoughtful comments when you have time.

Not sure why you like to venture into my threads if you don't like me other than just to troll like a child..............

I do genuinely hope whatever causes you such anger inside is getting help. These kinds of anger problems can't be a good things long term brother.

All clean out and back into the garage for tomorrow. Plan is to fire it up after church so should be cooking by noon. Haven't done a picnic in a while so excited to see how that goes
