Quintessential Chatty Farker
Went out to a farm yesterday and cut up some sweet cherry trees that had been bulldozed over back in February. When I got home I fired up the 'dera with the cherry wood and through on a slab of spares and tips along with the customary fatty. Eight hours later I had some of the best smoked ribs I've ever made. The sweet cherry burns low and slow, I had to throw some maple in just to pick up the heat. I just hope I can get back to that farm before they push all the trees into a pile and burn them. I've used wild cherry before but never fruit bearing cherry wood. There is a definate difference. I highly recommend any of you who live near orchards to introduce yourself to the farmer and take advantage of a great source for free wood. Those fruit trees are only good for a few years then they plow em up and re plant new ones.
