• xenforo has sucessfully updated our forum software last night. Howevr, that has returned many templates to stock formats which MAY be missing some previous functionality. It has also fixed some boroken templates Ive taken offline. Reat assured, we are working on getting our templates back to normal, but will take a few days. Im working top down, so best bet is to stick with the default templates as I work thru them.

Looking foreward to pics after your first cook on the Drum

I'm glad you didn't call it a Ugly drum smoker, that things beautiful!

Long live the drum!
They are so easy to cook on it is almost a sin!

I came across some "overpack" drums today at work. They are made to contain a damaged 55 gal. drum. They are about 30" in diameter and about 5 inches taller than a regular drum. Would make a major drum smoker but where would I get grates?

Anybody ever seen 28-29" diameter grates?

Curious about one thing. How hard is it to get the charcoal basket into the bottom of the pit being that the grate has such a large diameter? It looks like it will hit the brackets you installed to hold your cooking grate.

Charcoal grate has a couple of inches clearance goes in and out with no problem. Will season Sat. and will Q on fathers day!!

The BDS Jumbo uses a 26" grate, Weber may still stock them. Hopefully ultramag will chime in, I think he has one.

The only thing I have left to do on mine is install the cooking grate and build the charcoal basket..... Just need to find the time..... ughhhh
