• xenforo has sucessfully updated our forum software last night. Howevr, that has returned many templates to stock formats which MAY be missing some previous functionality. It has also fixed some boroken templates Ive taken offline. Reat assured, we are working on getting our templates back to normal, but will take a few days. Im working top down, so best bet is to stick with the default templates as I work thru them.

Hey Spicewine owners, anyone put a tall (3-4') stack on your cooker? Did it or would it operate any differently?

As Scott Burke and I were talking today, we kicked around putting a medium Spicewine next to my FEC-100 on the rear deck of my new trailer. I'd like to consider venting it through the roof instead of having the smoke build up under the roof.

Wondering if it would draw and perform differently than "stock".

Can't imagine it would vent any differently. My smoke usually rose much higher than that. Think if you had a really bad fire it would look really cool coming out of those!
(if you can't laugh at yourself who can)

I toyed around with running dryer duct out of them into a cold smoking box but didn't get around it this fall. I did that with my old chargriller smoker and it worked out ok.

Hey Todd use a exhaust hood instead, that way when your not using it I can roll it to my site and use it!

I think if you use a 6 or 8 inch wide stack and only use it to 'guide' the smoke up, it will not effect draft. The wider stack should be slid over the stock exhaust leaving a few inches clearance on the bottom so air can flow from underneath.

If you use a stack the same width as the stock ones and extend it 4 feet, it probably will.

Hey Todd Phil's right when I put my extension on my vertical to direct the smoke when I have it on the trailer there is a big difference in how I use it. But that is with the extension fitting tight to the stack I have never tried an over sized extension.
That has been my experience

Will an exhaust stack for a tractor work? Tractor Supply has some nice stainless ones.

There's a guy in KS that has some about 2 feet tall, with valves on them. Real slick!

I was going to stop at an auto shop and see if I could find a down turned tail pipe, hoepfully chrome and about 3"diameter, just want to seal the end. Smoking in the rain all day and I'm sure water get's in. Scott
