• xenforo has sucessfully updated our forum software last night. Howevr, that has returned many templates to stock formats which MAY be missing some previous functionality. It has also fixed some boroken templates Ive taken offline. Reat assured, we are working on getting our templates back to normal, but will take a few days. Im working top down, so best bet is to stick with the default templates as I work thru them.

So...tell me how you clean out your offset stick burner...?

Right after a cook (while the smoker is still a little warm), I do a wipe down of the outside of the smoker with a damp (water) microfiber cloth with a few drips of food grade mineral oil. The warm smoker drys the mineral oil so it's not sticky.

Besides keeping it looking like new, I feel like the mineral oil helps keep the rust at bay and protects the paint a bit from the elements. Having the smoker look good is the main goal though.

Like others, ashes next day,

my grates are not flat expanded metal, but bent slightly. after the cook
grates get wire brush to knock off the big stuff. Before next cook, i heat them up with a plumber's torch or lately my electric heat gun/fire starter and get more aggressive with wire brush. it seem to have worked for me. these grates were a bit old when i got them and that was 17 years ago.

I do believe the Brethren have a new acronym! Thanks, Sako!

TCHV when writing it, or "tchiv" if you're saying it out loud at a BBQ competition. "What kind of tchiv do I use? Well, let me think. OK, at home my tchiv is a turkey roaster, and in the food truck our new tchiv is a VEVOR." Or, "I don't believe in using a tchiv. I just cook till done and then serve."
