• xenforo has sucessfully updated our forum software last night. Howevr, that has returned many templates to stock formats which MAY be missing some previous functionality. It has also fixed some boroken templates Ive taken offline. Reat assured, we are working on getting our templates back to normal, but will take a few days. Im working top down, so best bet is to stick with the default templates as I work thru them.

Hey Guys,

This is more of a safety question than anything else. I'm moving into a new home this weekend. It has a deck off the back that is about 6 feet off the ground. Typical wooden deck. I'm debating whether to store the Smoke King Deluxe under the deck and just roll it out when I use it, or put it on the deck where it is more accessible (as in no stairs to deal with).

If I decide to put it on the deck, I obviously have safety concerns about the heat from the firebox, or hot embers, etc. Does anyone keep their smoker on a deck, and if so, any safety precautions I shoudl keep in mind?

Thanks!

Scott

I had my Silver Smoker on a deck, Scott, and the only trouble I had was when I placed hot coals in a container sitting on the wood. No problems from normal operations!

Lowe's, Home Depot, etc. usually stock "grill mats". I've seen them in a couple of different sizes. They'll help protect the deck.

I never thought about being on the deck being a problem, mine is. Will let everyone know if I burn the house down<G>!

I burned some holes in my deck. Gotta be careful. Use the q-mat, or some 12x12 (or larger) bricks, or those large oil drip pans from Auto Zone or Pep Boys.

Grill pad/Q mat mod is the way to go.
