I took the left over aluminum I had from making my baffle and made some heat shields and air deflectors. I cut two pieces 6 inches high by the length of the firebox and put them on top of the fire grate. (Pic 2 & 4) I cut two more the width of the firebox by 5 inches high and placed them under the fire grate at each end to seal off the air from coming up around the fire. (Pic 1 & 3) The piece at the damper end needed to be bent up just slightly to direct all air flow under the fire grate. (Pic 4) Just doing this has allowed me to get burns of several hours at around the 230 to 240 mark. It's not real pretty, but seems to work rather well. Has anyone else tried anything like this?
