• xenforo has sucessfully updated our forum software last night. Howevr, that has returned many templates to stock formats which MAY be missing some previous functionality. It has also fixed some boroken templates Ive taken offline. Reat assured, we are working on getting our templates back to normal, but will take a few days. Im working top down, so best bet is to stick with the default templates as I work thru them.

Simple math...

Home alone huh, m o m?
dinner for one:mrgreen:

steaks look great.

That's what it's all about. looks good bro

Those steaks look fantastic! Cooked over mulberry? Can you use mulberry wood for smoking? Mulberry grows like weeds around here. I guess it's a fruit tree. The berrys are sure good. I figured the wood was too soft or too much like a weed to use for flavoring smoke.

What say youse guys?

I've heard anything that blooms or produces fruit can be burned for cooking. I've used dogwood quite a bit, and the steaks that come off it are astounding.

That can't be completely right. We have trees/bushes growing in florida that are famous for their blooms, and they produce a posionous gas when burned. It can be deadly. The Oleander bush.

So I would be hesitant use that "rule of thumb"

OOOOhhhhhhmmmaaannnnn!!! That is just mouth watering!! I'm having my steak tomorrow, wife is making me a 1 1/2 inch thick porterhouse.

Now I'm eyeing my neighbors dying/dead dogwood....

That's exactly how I got my dogwood stash. Landlord cut down a tree and stacked the wood in back of our building. It burns fast, though. Takes 4+ sticks to get my SKD up to heat, and baby-sitting every 30-45 to keep it going (which evidently is typical for cooking with wood in the SKD).

Huh. Well whatcha know 'bout that! Good info to have. I never saw any information about dogwood being harmful before I cooked with it, and there's been no hiccups since I've used it to cook for the past year. But, your point is valid.

Huh.
