• xenforo has sucessfully updated our forum software last night. Howevr, that has returned many templates to stock formats which MAY be missing some previous functionality. It has also fixed some boroken templates Ive taken offline. Reat assured, we are working on getting our templates back to normal, but will take a few days. Im working top down, so best bet is to stick with the default templates as I work thru them.

I am thinking about getting a Shop-Vac Ash Vacuum (model 4041200) from my employer's rewards program. I am looking mainly for something to help with cleaning my Kamado Joe cookers. Anybody have one and wish to share your thoughts on how well it works and how it has held up over time.

I use one but just make sure the coals are out and I empty it as soon as I get done just to be safe .

You have the PowerSmith and the SnowJoe ash vacuum's. The Cheaper SnowJoe rates better now they changed the filter system.

They both sell on Amazon and both can handle hot ash if there's any hot spots left.

The PowerSmith is by far the top rated ash vacuum on the market.

I just use my 6 gal. ridgid shop vac. Works good for me. Plus I got it on sale for $40.

Shop vac for ashes

I haven't tried it yet but heard that the filter for sheetrock on a shop vac makes it work real well for ashes

When vacuuming "warm" ash, will the stray hot coal destroy the filter? Assuming I empty the vacuum right away, I wonder if I could use this cleaning up at competitions.

think I might have a similar shop vac. Do you find the filter is still usable afterwrads?

After a while the ash will build up a bit. I just pull it off and knock loose all the ash into a trash container. Seems to work fine for me.
