• xenforo has sucessfully updated our forum software last night. Howevr, that has returned many templates to stock formats which MAY be missing some previous functionality. It has also fixed some boroken templates Ive taken offline. Reat assured, we are working on getting our templates back to normal, but will take a few days. Im working top down, so best bet is to stick with the default templates as I work thru them.

A bunch of members of the California BBQ Association are going out to 29 Palms this weekend to cook for the Marines. Everyone is bringing there smokers and we plan to cook 340 briskets. There will be everything from Ole Hickorys and FEC to UDS' and WSM. We will start friday night to serve on Saturday afternoon. I think there will 10000 Marines and family members that we cook for. Saturday night there will be a Big and Rich concert.

This is my first time participating in this annual event. Should be a lot of fun and a chance to learn a lot about cooking for large groups.

WTG!! I think it's great that you would give your time and effort to support the troops.

I have heard nothing but good about these events.
I think this one got great coverage last year, rightfully so!

If one pops up in my area, I will be in!

Good for you Neil.

Moving to Q-talk for better exposure.

Holy chit - 340 briskets? Are you sure that's ENOUGH?? :D

Good on ya, brother - GREAT cause.

I'll be sure to take lots of pics!

I'm just a little guy in all of this. I'm gonna do 8 briskets in my two barrels. Just trying to do some small part.

No part of this is small my friend. Thank you.

Hey, that's really cool news. Thanks for letting us know about it. More evidence that Brethren kick ass.

Does anyone know if they do something like this on the east coast?

You're doing a great thing Neil... get plenty of rest the night before... sounds like you're gonna be working hard....but all for a great cause.

This is great! I wish I could be a part of it. Give them a big salute for me! Enjoy the experience, and of course pics!

Bigmista, Thanks for your paticipation,And tell those wonderful marines and families we love each and everyone of them!!!! GO DEVIL DOGS!!

Yeah...I know they are desperate, they are even gonna let me cook brisket on my 2 075's...LOL. I made a second shelf so I can pack a few more in there, hope to be able to get six on each Traeger, it's like pissing in the ocean and trying raise the tide, but this is the 5th year out there for me and I would not miss it for all the gold in Ft Knox!

A fat, middle aged fart like me sure gets a chill down his spine when you see them raise the flag and those young men and women snap to attention, they know why they are there, it just makes you feel proud to be an American!

Neil, we are gonna have a blast! And it's only suppose to be 97* so make sure you bring a jacket!
