• xenforo has sucessfully updated our forum software last night. Howevr, that has returned many templates to stock formats which MAY be missing some previous functionality. It has also fixed some boroken templates Ive taken offline. Reat assured, we are working on getting our templates back to normal, but will take a few days. Im working top down, so best bet is to stick with the default templates as I work thru them.

Were out to Kansas on T-day, but when we get back we are having folks over for round two. Menu is smoked salmon, Garlic mashed potatoes, salad, etc...

Last night I made a Sweet Potato Gooey Butter Cake. Just a test one to see if the recipe is worthy of the Turkey day table. It is! Here's the recipe for Pumpkin Gooey Butter Cake (I just substituted sweet potatoes because I like them better than Pumpkin):

Cake:
1 (18 1/4-ounce) package yellow cake mix
1 egg
8 tablespoons butter, melted
Filling:
1 (8-ounce) package cream cheese, softened
1 (15-ounce) can pumpkin
3 eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla
8 tablespoons butter, melted
1 (16-ounce) box powdered sugar
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1 teaspoon nutmeg

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
To make the cake: Combine all of the ingredients and mix well with an electric mixer. Pat the mixture into the bottom of a lightly greased 13 by 9-inch baking pan. Prepare filling.
To make the filling: In a large bowl, beat the cream cheese and pumpkin until smooth. Add the eggs, vanilla, and butter, and beat together. Next, add the powdered sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and mix well. Spread pumpkin mixture over cake batter and bake for 40 to 50 minutes. Make sure not to overbake as the center should be a little gooey.
Serve with fresh whipped cream.

This makes like 5 threads on Thanksgiving.

Me, I'm thinking of making Turkey

hmmm, i think ill make one too. I'm thinking of a cran-apple-orange-rasberry injection. And then i'll burn it to a crisp on the outside thus searing all the wholesome juicy goodness inside!

might even push the envelope with a pumpkin pie

Turkey, ham, mashed potatoes, gravy, stuffing, greenbean casserole, candied yams, homemade rolls, fresh cut corn, salad, jello salad, pecan pie, strawberry pie, turtle cheesecake & that nasty jellied cranberry sauce that comes out shaped like the can. ( Just for my father inlaw) My youngest daughter wants to cook the dinner this year so I will be teaching her the ropes. Hope she's up to the challenge. I told her to plan to be up @ 5:30 am and be in the kitchen all day.
