• xenforo has sucessfully updated our forum software last night. Howevr, that has returned many templates to stock formats which MAY be missing some previous functionality. It has also fixed some boroken templates Ive taken offline. Reat assured, we are working on getting our templates back to normal, but will take a few days. Im working top down, so best bet is to stick with the default templates as I work thru them.

This is my first post and let me tell you I'm darn happy to be here. I've been cruising this forum for tips, suggestions, and recommendations for years and it has been VERY HELPFUL. Thanks to everyone who contributes.

Right now I'm looking for some suggestions for rib racks - I flat out want to smoke more ribs than my grill will hold. I'm using a Char-Broil 1280 with a side firebox (planned mods for better smoke/temp control). I can cook 4-5 baby back racks now laying flat, but want to do 8+. I tried a rib rack years ago, but frankly the "closeness" of the tongs didn't allow for decent glazing on the final stage (using a 2-2-1 method with good results).

Can anyone recommend one or two styles of racks with which you've had success that will provide the spacing of the ribs for which I'm looking? If you have other suggestions, please let me know. Thanks again!

I haven't tried the rotisserie, and I don't think I can modify my grill to allow it.

With respect to spacing, I guess enough to where the racks won't touch one another, which would cause the glazing to be messed up on the one behind it.

I think the inherent nature of a rib rack means that they'll touch somewhere. Usually at the bottom. But I used these on my old COS with success.

maybe something like this and rotate if needed. Could give you the 3-4 more you want.
Welcome to the forum! so much knowledge here.

Ikea "rib rack" :-D

I think it's called Variera, it's all stainless, just plug out the plastic parts on the bottom and you're good to go. Also it's adjustable ;)

Many many European guys use these with good results.

Thanks for the suggestions. That fun land rack appears to have the tongs too close together. I may end up trying this: [ame="https://www.amazon.com/Masterbuilt-20100211-Rib-Rack/dp/B004E8LWQU/ref=sr_1_5?ie=UTF8&qid=1476893711&sr=8-5&keywords=rib+rack"]Amazon.com: Masterbuilt 20100211 Rib Rack: Patio, Lawn & Garden[/ame]

I really like the idea of adding a shelf and may build one myself. Thanks.

I was going to suggest this same thing, especially with the regular rib racks going for $15-20 bucks...crazy. You could be 3 or 4 of these easy @ $5.99 a piece and toss them when they get too cruddy to clean...

I've used quite a few racks and my favorite due to spacing and height is:

Short of using multiple crisscross bamboo skewers to hold 3 racks vertically. I've never used one that I thought worked all that well/PIA. I'd rather lay em flat on grates. If you have the room/height, these might work for you. Without building your own extra racks.

Get a PBC. I can hang 8 racks at a time :-P

Yes, I know. About as helpful as Build a UDS.
