Hi, my fellow smokers, I have a pull behind Lang smoker and I want to repaint the firebox. I used the paint recommended by the manufacturer and it didn't work. Looking for a high heat commercial paint, any suggestions? Thanks, bbqnut.

Have you considered having it sand blasted before you paint.......it sure will make a better base for your paint to adhere too.

I used some metal rust removal/pickling stuff on the firebox on the Tejas when I got it. High heat paint I cannot remember the manufacturer but it wasn't rustolium.
Wire brushed the pitted/rusted parts with the rust remover and have kept the pit loosely covered and the paint has hung in quite well.
I have coated with canola oil after each use on the barrel and the firebox.
Paint seems to be holding up pretty well so far.
Paint was Imperial high heat stove paint (solvent base).
