• xenforo has sucessfully updated our forum software last night. Howevr, that has returned many templates to stock formats which MAY be missing some previous functionality. It has also fixed some boroken templates Ive taken offline. Reat assured, we are working on getting our templates back to normal, but will take a few days. Im working top down, so best bet is to stick with the default templates as I work thru them.

I got it all together... now I want to figure out what to do with it...

At first I was pretty set on welding a portion of my donor Webber Kettle to the top of my drum, thinking it would be nice to get a little more room and a better seal. Now I am wondering about the leak that will develop if I dont do a full weld around the barrel... is it worth the effort? I see some have done this and some havent, but there are no comments either way.

I know this belongs in the UDS forum, but it is farking huge that I dont think anyone looks at it a lot.

My opinion is you have to have a complete seal. I have not had my flat lid on perfectly and the temp was uncontrollable. If I thought I needed it I would weld 100%.

I have seen a few barrels with folded aluminum foil around the top edge. Assumed it was to get a better seal. Mine work fine bare with the weber lid. Might consider getting some big green egg lid gasket and use food grade sealer to glue it on folded over the edge. Just a thought.
