What would you say produces the best result as far as stones go? I know there's a lot of options, just hoping to make the best choice. My main concern is crust cooking faster than the toppings and cheese.

Anyone have one of these?

I haven't had any issues with the crust getting done to fast, the pizzas come out great. I just use a stone from Bed Bath and Beyond, it's a square one, it fits my 22.5 Weber and leaves space on all four sides for heat to come up. I know it is a thin "cheap" stone ($25) so I put an aluminum pan on top of the coals to cut down on the direct heat and I haven't cracked it yet. I also preheat the stone in the oven to 450 degrees.

That Red Sky Grilling stone looks like a good stone. I wish the site listed the thickness instead of just "thicker than conventional oven pizza stones". But I think for $50.00 I'll try it out when I finally do crack my "cheapy".

Drifter is this the one you are talking about? I saw this and am going to give it a try.

That's the one Moose ask about. He gave a link directly to their website (has some good video's of it in use.) It looks like a really good stone, but it's not what I am currently using.

This is the one I have, I thought it was $25.00, but looks like it's only $20.00. It works alright, but if I was buying a new one I would go with the Red Sky stone.

The Redsky stone looks like it should be a good product.

Here is another brand that you may want to consider.
It comes in different sizes and is 3/4 inch thick.

I don't have one of their stones for the grill, but; I do have one
that is designed for the oven. I have had it for over 9 years now,
and it works great.

I forgot about those, actually. Their oven stones look really good.

Very nice looking stone. Very thick. Go for it.

Just for conversation sake, I bought this cheapy $12 stone for my Large BGE to act as a buffer/heat diffuser, not as a pizza stone. I use it with my Woo Ring. I mainly wanted the peel and I figured the stone would crack by the 2nd use but it's still going strong.

My old rule of thumb was thicker the better. But now I'm not so sure.

IMO, u cant beat the stones from BGE. They can hold up to direct heat, but its better if you use firebricks as a damper. Stone heats more even and doesnt get as hot.
