Doing my first pulled pork this weekend. After I inject the pork can I put it right on the smoker or should it set for awhile before cooking. Or does it even need to be injected with anything, just put a good rub on and let it cook.

I usually inject just before I put it in the smoker, but either way works. Last butts I did was just with rub. It was great. We all do it a little different, so whatever works for you. Try it one way and then another until you get what you like.

Especially for your first cook, I'd suggest not using any injection. Go with your favorite rub and let it ride.Based on the outcome you'll be in a better position to determine what type of adjustments to make on a future cook.

It's easy to add to, but much harder to take away.

It's funny.. I started out simple with just rub and smoke. Gradually, I built up to a process that covered almost everything (slathers, multiple rubs, juice/rub injections all the way up to FAB-P type injections, spray bottles, foil loaded with the works).. and now I'm back to where I started. May or may not be as good, but I enjoy the simplicity of it this way.

good luck
