• xenforo has sucessfully updated our forum software last night. Howevr, that has returned many templates to stock formats which MAY be missing some previous functionality. It has also fixed some boroken templates Ive taken offline. Reat assured, we are working on getting our templates back to normal, but will take a few days. Im working top down, so best bet is to stick with the default templates as I work thru them.

Picking up my stainless Performer in a week.

I see the old style performer has a different propane tank system than the new one. Is this gonna be a problem as far as refilling? I can't find much info on the differences.

Jim, The two that I have had the old style quick release male/female fittings. If so you'll have to get a tank with an OPD valve and a new hose connection. Ace hardware carries Mr.Heater hoses and fittings, remove the old male fitting on the supply hose and replace it with a new twist on fitting. The supply hose is secured with a hairpin type cotter key into the burner tube, pull the pin, remove the hose. An RV supply should also have the fittings too.

I took my old Performer tank to a welding supply shop and had them refit it with a new OPD valve.

Thanks Brian and Neil. Very helpful advice. I have never had a propane fired grill before so was clueless.

Your 5 lb performer tank should come with an adapter that you take with you to get it filled. Mine did anyway. Also you can buy an adapter to fit a 20 lb tank if you want to use one of those.
