What are ya'll's recommendations for fixing Prime Rib on the BGE? Would you cook on high heat indirect (say 400degrees) for initial searing then turn down or direct heat? Or just go slow and low? Also, how long generally for med rare?

Thanks! BTW I haven't done it in years but when I did, I used a mixture of kosher salt, black pepper garlic and fresh rosemary for a beautiful crust. If I get one on this Memorial Day, I'll post the results!

I go low and slow till 130 then pull, tent as you ramp up temp on egg and high heat sear finish and then rest. Dr BBq had a video out somewhere on rib poast. It was very informative. I gauge time by beer consumption, so it varies. Total about 2-2.5 hours I think. Thirceye has a great write up on his website.

Friggin 2/3 box of Jolley Joes (theater size) and a can of coke , riding a sugar high brother and getting paid! Life is good.

I guess I am in the middle of the road temperature wise. I cook mine indirect at 275 until the internal temp is 125-130 then rest for 20 minutes or so and carve and enjoy!

Norco,

Thanks for the link! You may now go into your diabetic comma!

Off to Cosco tomorrow so I'll sneak one into the cart before the wifey sees it. Oh, well, I'll buy her some new shoes and we'll call it even!

Rub with whatever you like.Lo-N-SLO.250 dome til I.T. hits 125,NO MORE THAN 130!!! High heat overcooks the outside before the center gets to the target temp.
