• xenforo has sucessfully updated our forum software last night. Howevr, that has returned many templates to stock formats which MAY be missing some previous functionality. It has also fixed some boroken templates Ive taken offline. Reat assured, we are working on getting our templates back to normal, but will take a few days. Im working top down, so best bet is to stick with the default templates as I work thru them.

Playing with fire again!

Well, I convinced the wife that I needed another smoker, and she consented for my father's day gift. Picked up a Landmann BlackDog 45 at Sportsman's Warehouse for $250, which seems like a good deal, online prices don't seem to be below $320. Anyway, I did my first cook on it today, some spares and a couple of fatties. Not too bad results-wise, I turned the fatties into charcoal, but the ribs turned out pretty good. It's going to take me a while to get used to cooking with a fire again, I think I'm going to have to make a charcoal basket. My only gripe with the smoker is that every time I open the cooking chamber, the vent closes. Otherwise, very happy with the purchase. Here's a few shots of the first cook.

Interesting looking cooker.
Is it pretty well designed out of the box, or is it going to need some mods?
