Our kitchen is totally demolished, so we have been living in the front of the house and struggling through the fun of a remodel. The kitchen and deck will be great when it's finished and it's a minor inconvenience in the grand scheme of things. It gives me plenty of excuse to fire up the grill (the grill and the camp stove are the only thing between us and starvation.)
Had some fun with some favorites for the kids today. All part of the master plan for the sausage throwdown.
The raw ingredients (note, I did my wife a favor and cleaned the beer out of the refrigerator).
I pinched the crescent dough together to make a rectangle and rolled up some Hebrew Nationals with some Texas BBQ Rub just in case.
I dropped 'em in the Dutch Oven and cooked them about 25m at 350ish.
Checked them at 15m and turned the Dutch Oven 90 and 90 to avoid hot spots.
I made up some sliders to go with the dogs and cooked them up on my Smokey Joe while the dogs were finishing up.
I made an adult version by precooking some Habanero-Green Chile Sausage on my mini-WSM.
I used French Bread dough for the adult version and the crunchiness of the bread worked well with the heartier sausages.
At the end of the day, I got the coveted seal of approval!
Enjoy your weekend - Happy Father's Day to all.
