• xenforo has sucessfully updated our forum software last night. Howevr, that has returned many templates to stock formats which MAY be missing some previous functionality. It has also fixed some boroken templates Ive taken offline. Reat assured, we are working on getting our templates back to normal, but will take a few days. Im working top down, so best bet is to stick with the default templates as I work thru them.

It's a Weber gasser. It's plumbed for natural gas. I need to swap it out for LP. It's a little rough needing some TLC. It does have cast iron grates, and the lid is in good shape. Lady first was asking $100 on Craigslist.com. Then she went down to $50. I got there, and she gave it to me. Will post a pick later.
Ty

Ddid she give it to you for $40.00 or did she just give it to you? In any case SCORE.

Those Weber grills are great. Now you have another tool to get the job done. Post some pics of the finished product.

It was free! It's a 3 burner with wood work shelves and a red lid. I'll start on the cast iron grates today, and swap out the gas hook up and hose.

Here's the grill that the woman gave me. I started cleaning up the guts of the grill. The burners look good, flavorizer bars in good shape, and the cast iron grates are cleaning up nicely. Next week, I'll change to LP and test fire it. I'll give her a good scrub down also.

Down here, we dont get Craigslist, but we do have a Manuel version called La Pulga.

That Weber looks pretty solid, Ty. I would have to say that for free, you got your money's worth.

Anything special to do when I replace the regulator? It was last run on natural gas. Going to convert back to LP. Just replace the regulator?

I'm thinking there should be a different orifice and possibly air mixture/vent fitting

I think you need to change the orifice. LP operating pressure is higher than natural gas. There may be a seperate orifice for each burner.

Yep, it looks like it's a different manifold. The woman I got it from said she a had a plumber modify it. She thinks he drilled it. Since I'm not sure, I'll look for a replacement manifold assembly.

Actually is there something to look for to confirm what it's set up for?

You can go to http://www.weber.com/bbq/ and find your model, or call customer service 1-800-446-1071. But if she had a plumber modify it, the numbers are meaningless. My advice would be to get a local plumber/ heating guy to come look at it. She most likely had the orifice drilled out for the lower pressure/btu of natural gas. A furnace guy will have an orifice the right size or a blank that he drills to the correct size. You will still need the correct hose and regulator.

Here is what the orifice might look like:http://www.clagrills.com/allgrillparts/weber/weber-all-valves.htm

Ok, call me cheap, but I don't want to put much $ in this thing. Is it possible to test the manifold? Thinking that just the regulator might have been modified. Could I just replace the regulator, and check gas flow? $100 manifold ($50 used) might be more than I want to invest in it now. The woman didn't seem to know much about it. She doesn't know what he drilled out.

perhaps it could be converted to burn lump. DId you check wit the local BBQ grill store?

Call me a chicken if you want, but I wouldn't. Gas go BOOM!

I think I'd find the model #, and get Weber to ship me an owners manual and parts list and then see what it would cost me to bring it back up to spec. Dealing with propane I'm not rolling the dice in my own back yard, or when I'm cooking.
