• xenforo has sucessfully updated our forum software last night. Howevr, that has returned many templates to stock formats which MAY be missing some previous functionality. It has also fixed some boroken templates Ive taken offline. Reat assured, we are working on getting our templates back to normal, but will take a few days. Im working top down, so best bet is to stick with the default templates as I work thru them.

Pending a final inspection...pulled the trigger....

Shokan...
on a 2-3 year old BYC. Just got to figure out how to get it home. I;ve been agonizing over this for a few months now and a deal opened up for me on a unit that had previously been sold but the original buyer backed out at the last minute. Unit looks to be in very good condition with 1/4 fire box, charcoal basket, 2" valve, sausage racks. Anybody on KC driving a truck east to maybe Columbus Ohio?

Looks about 1266 miles away, one way. Figure 20 out 20 back over a four day weekend. anyone in the neighborhood around to help lift  would be neat to meet a few people or at least have a decent que meal while I'm out tthere. Scott

Good luck, Scott... If your route takes you near Chicago, let me know (but, of course, you'd probably be going out of your way :-D)

Sounds great Yak! Congratulations, You will be pleased and then some. :-D

Great Deal Scott!
I have heard nothing but good things about the BYC.

I just ran KC, Mo to Columbus, OH on my mapping program.
Looks like 650 miles and 11 hours or so using RV speeds.
Is that the trip? 3 day weekend with lots of time in KC area if so.

It will work out for sure.
Maybe you could just "beam it up" Scottie (my poor joke for today)

Congrats,

TIM

Scott, you're covered on the labor and we'll see what we can do about the Q!!

If your taking I 70 stop in Illinois on piss on the ground for me and Stop in Columbia and buy some Show ME Sauce. Knock your dick in the dirt good meat loaf used my last one tonight, I'm depressed. By Chance if you see Mr Kick Give him a kiss and pinch his arse. Finally if you go through Indy stop and check out Bill's Mother in-law she is hot.

thanks guys, lots of chuckles. I'm in the Catskill mountains of NY. 1300 one way. plan to leave wed evening, be there thursday evening. Load friday and leave saturday am home sunday, Just and easy weekend drive ;)

anyway the price was an even 1250. Shipping wasn't an option as to get someone to go and load, then deliver, prices rapidly in the 700's. Oh well, I'm up for a road trip and have a friend going with me. he's got a small electric smoker and has had some envy of what I've been doing with my chargrill. now to secure a trailer and get my ducks in a row. Looking at the second weekend of February as the travel date. weather shoud be really pissy, the smoker up to it's wheels in the lawn and all should go well. can;t wait :)

I gotta variation on BRDs recommendation. Buy the Show Me first, empty most of that into a container for yourself, cap the remainder of the Show Me container with a good piss, shake it up then send to BRD. Drive through San Diego or whereever the fark she is now and pinch BRDs sister's arse while giving her a big kiss from me.

Since ya gotta pass my way, cmon over to Brooklyn and we'll break it in!

reserve a Uhaul trailer for 1 way. The 5x9 utility should work. Pick it up when you get to KCMO. You'll save gas and a day not taking it there. Might even be cheaper than borrowing one to take. Take plnty of ratchet down straps. Keep me updated.

The BYC goes in the center of the trailer. Strap it down good.

Make sure u bring something to put on either side so it cant move from the center. Poobah is an expert on driving a trailer with a BYC. Any suggestions Phil?

hthillins got it right.. the one way uhaul 5x9 is the smallest one with the ramp. Otherwise the 4x6 will work, but you have to lift it over the sides. The 42 inch main and 1/4 inch firebox will probably weigh in around 700-800lbs.

Firebox over the axel and centered in the trailer.
Short 1 inch strap around the front legs and attached to the the front rail.
One 2 inch stap wrapped once completly around the vertical and strapped to the side tops.
Another 2 inch strap wrapped completely around the horizontal and stapped to the side bottoms.
(Those 2 keep the doors closed and keep it form tipping..)

once you have those 3 in place, use 4 more and just strap it down wherever you can. Most important.. you need those 2 inch straps.. At least 2 of them, 3 is better. The rest can be 1 inch.

congratulations!!! Your gonna love it..

Take or procure a few pieces of 2x6, 4x4, etc. (about 2' long) to use for buffering the frame or wheels as you strap the BYC to the side rails. you'll also want to figure some way to chock the wheels.

Load, strap it down, let it sit, tighten the straps, start driving, after about 15 minutes stop and tighten down again...check straps every time you stop - gas, pee stop, scenic overlook, etc.

Congrats on the buy. I've cooked on Greg's BYC - you're gonna love it!

Thanks guys, hauling should'nt be an issue, one way is probably the way to go as an empty trailer is a PIA. Can take wood and straps in back of p/u. Will have to fond 2 icnh straps. Lot's of one inch. Have hauled boats, yaks, children, wife, mother in law, all of it many places so should be ok. Just got to plan the time. what;s the weather like in KCMO in early Feb? Scott

PS, Brooklyn Q, there is no farkin way Ild go through tthe city......will be in Jamaica bay in May though to do a kayak fishing tournament. Any one local to there interested in yak fishing should consider stopping by and checking out the event. Floyd Bennet Field, May 6/7, no charge to play I think, and there will be demo paddles. Scott

BBQChef, got a pciture of your rig loaded???? This has the smaller wheels so will probably upgrade them in the future to roll it more easily. S
