• xenforo has sucessfully updated our forum software last night. Howevr, that has returned many templates to stock formats which MAY be missing some previous functionality. It has also fixed some boroken templates Ive taken offline. Reat assured, we are working on getting our templates back to normal, but will take a few days. Im working top down, so best bet is to stick with the default templates as I work thru them.

Patch up the silver A, or buy a Genesis 1000 to patch up?

Evening gents. I've been cooking on a Craigslist Silver A for about 3 years, and it is finally time to replace a few parts. In pricing flavorizer bars, burner, and ignition, I started to wonder whether I should actually go back to craigslist again and upgrade a bit. I found a Genesis 1000 that needs new shelves, but all the internals look fine. Only problem is some missing (seller says "peeling"?) enamel on the lid. My quesiton basically boils down to: which grill would you fix up?
1. Is the 1000 going to be much of a cooking area upgrade? I'm occasionally cramped on the A, but usually fine.
2. Three burners seems like a serious upgrade, am I right?
3. The lid. Is there any real repair for that? (I think not.) Are all the Genesis lids from that era interchangeable, i.e., could I pick up a cheap, dead Genesis on CL and know that it would work?

If you are going to spend some money you might as well get the biggest upgrade you can.
