• xenforo has sucessfully updated our forum software last night. Howevr, that has returned many templates to stock formats which MAY be missing some previous functionality. It has also fixed some boroken templates Ive taken offline. Reat assured, we are working on getting our templates back to normal, but will take a few days. Im working top down, so best bet is to stick with the default templates as I work thru them.

Does anybody know where I can order screw in thermometers and the round adjustable air vents for grills? I building my first major grill.

Check with Jay at Spicewine Ironworks. But first go to Cattle Call and introduce yourself propperly.

yup, Spicewine Ironworks has the thermometers..

But dont quite understnd what ya mean by "round adjustable air vents" You mean the things like on a weber kettle or WSM? those you can get from the weber web site.

EDIT: I just went to get you the link. Either I am going nuts, or Weber has taken down alot of the replacment parts. I didnt see the vents, nor did i see the ash blades that i bought from there a few months ago. They have a number in the customer service section you can call to order the parts.

I think he is talking about the air intake damper for the fire box. Some are circular and others like the bandera are horizontal.

If you're building a good solid smoker, you will want to build your own air dampers. That retail customer (light duty) stuff won't do what you want. I didn't catch your location, but just go to a place that sells quality wood stoves. Look at the design. It is the same theory, you want to be able to regulate air flow.

Spicewine Thermometers rock. On the airvents, are you starting totally from scratch, or going to put mods on something existing? If you have not looked at a "Good-One" type air control - those work very well, also.

Good luck on your build!!
